eMoviePoster.comDid you know... how to learn more about the movies that your posters are from (or ones you are considering buying)?Return to Did You Know Archive Added: 03/16/2015 Some of you may be wondering, "Why would anyone buy posters for a movie they haven't seen?" But in fact, this happens all the time, usually because the collector "needs" that title because of the actor or genre, or sometimes for a variety of other reasons. But how DO you learn more about a movie if you already own the poster but haven't seen it (or are considering buying a poster, and would like to know more about the movie advertised before you do)? One obvious idea is to see if you can watch the movie for free on the Internet. It may be on YouTube, Netflix, or Amazon Prime or it could even be on some other site. If you can't find it for free, then try regular Amazon, Movies Unlimited (a great site!) or anywhere else you might buy it. But what if you either can't find it or don't want to take the time to watch it even if you CAN find it? You can look up the movie on either of two fine information sites, the Internet Movie Database (called simply the "IMDb") or Turner Classic Movies. These have more data about movies than any other site on the Internet, but I have found several errors in both sites, so don't take them as gospel! May I suggest another alternative? Look up the movie at our Auction History Database. There you will find whatever images of posters, lobby cards, stills and more from the movie you look up that we have ever sold, PLUS you will find the director, the five top-billed stars (in correct billing order, something often wrong even at the best of the other sites), plus taglines word for word from the first release posters, plus the writer of the source book or play, plus more! And we have far better searches and filters than those other sites have). Of course, sometimes you may want to just buy the poster without researching the movie (because you just love the poster), but isn't it nice to know all the ways you can before you bid?
