eMoviePoster.comDid you know... that some collectors only collect one size of poster, or only posters from one country?Return to Did You Know Archive Added: 02/02/2015 There are ALL sorts of movie paper collectors, but I have noticed that the
vast majority of them fall into one of six categories: 1) The super specialists: These ONLY collect on a single star, or sometimes just a single movie! They will get anything and everything they can find from that star or movie (all sizes and countries), but nothing not related to that star or movie. 2) The genre specialists: These ONLY collect on a single genre. It might be horror, or westerns, or musicals, or Academy Award winners, or whatever, but again they will usually get anything and everything they can find from that genre (all sizes and countries), but nothing else. Sometimes they will limit their search to specific decades or sizes, so they might only collect 1930s and 1940s horror, or only western lobby cards, or only U.S. paper from musicals, etc. 3) The size specialists: These ONLY collect a single size of movie paper. It might be one-sheets or lobby cards or stills (the three most popular sizes) or it could be other sizes, and often they have a well rounded collection beyond this restriction. 4) The country of origin specialists: These ONLY collects items from the country that made that movie. So they want a U.S. poster from a U.S. made movie, a Russian poster from a Russian movie, etc. Often this type of collector is very interested in the history of film, and are often major film buffs! 5) The country you live in specialists (those who only collect items from their own country): This type ONLY collects items from the country that they either live in or grew up in. These collectors want to buy memories, so they are looking for the same posters as what they saw in the theater they first saw those movies at. 6) The all-around collector: This type will take ANY item from any country, and any size. They are normally most interested in either films they loved or ones that are historically important (or both!) and they are often looking for the item that has the best image for that movie, regardless of country or size. Are YOU one of these six types? Have you always been that way, or did your interest shift over time. And if you are a SEVENTH type I did not list above, please tell me about the way YOU collect!
