eMoviePoster.comDid you know... that we fully recognize that there are many places to buy movie memorabilia, so we need to do more to earn your repeat business?Return to Did You Know Archive Added: 07/01/2013 This is Bruce Hershenson. I first attended an auction (of old comic books!) in 1967, and over the following 23 years I attended literally hundreds more (of memorabilia of all types, including movie posters) and I was struck by how shabbily almost every one of the auction house owners treated their customers! The items were often grossly mis-described (in terms of condition, originality, or both) or poorly displayed, the auctions often charged outrageous shipping after the sale, etc. The most expensive auctions were often the worst offenders, and they seemed to treat their customers based on the size of their wallets! So when I started my own auction (working in conjunction with Christie's auction house in New York City) I worked hard to correct all those flaws I had seen over the years, but I was limited by having to comply with many of the rules laid down by Christie's. The situation became much better in 1998, when I switched to working with Howard Lowery in Los Angeles, and I am very proud of the three major auctions I ran with Howard! But in early 2000 I recognized that the Internet meant the eventual end of "live" movie poster auctions, for why force hundreds of people to make an expensive trip to an auction site, when they could all stay home and bid on their computers instead? So in 2000 I moved my entire business to the Internet, but I did so by auctioning on the eBay auction site, and over the next 7 years I auctioned over 330,000 posters there, and I was able to implement many of the improvements I had wanted to add to MY auctions, like completely eliminating "buyers premiums", "buyer beware", "nosebleed shipping" and more! But I was still restricted somewhat by eBay's rules and regulations, and in 2008, I moved my auctions one final time, to my own site at eMoviePoster.com, and FINALLY, I could make our auctions exactly as I had dreamed of them all these years. We fully recognize that there are many places to buy movie memorabilia, so we know full well we need to do more to earn your repeat business! We are CONSTANTLY working to improve our site and our in so many ways (we have two full-time "tech" employees who keep adding these improvements every week). Most important of all, we have TRUE customer service, something almost completely lacking not only in other auctions, but in so many businesses all over the globe! If at any time you have ANY sort of problem (major or minor) in dealing with us, we have a special "Hot Line" number where you can call the owner (me!) directly, and I will do anything within reason (and sometimes beyond all reason) to fix your problem, even if it costs us much time and money to do so. This is not true at ANY other auction! Every employee here knows that we want to treat EVERY customer and consignor EXACTLY as WE want to be treated when WE are the customer (or consignor) and we do this whether you spend $5 or $5,000. Of course, every one of our 34,000+ existing customers know full well that this is true!
