our business pre-dates computers and PayPal, so of course when we started out most of our customers
either paid with a credit card over the phone, or mailed us a check or money order. And as everyone
who has ever dealt with us can confirm, we have the friendliest and most competent invoicing and
customer service people around, and they give REAL customer service, and if any of our
34,000+ customers ever has a problem, they know that they can ask for ME (the owner) and I
will either take the phone right then if I am there, or I will call them back personally when I
return, and none of this is true of ANY other auction company I know of! Of course, as the years passed, we needed to adapt to changing times, and so we added every conceivable payment option imaginable (we have had some customers send U.S. stamps, but fortunately no live chickens or goats!), but we still always maintained our "pay by phone" option, for those customers who simply prefer to talk to a human being, something lots and lots of companies phased out years ago. We have our own in-house checkout system and we recently added credit card payments for flat-rate U.S. customers to our Checkout (previously it was only for PayPal). Next we will be working on adding the shipping quotes for actual cost items to our checkout, so that ALL our customers will be able to use our checkout. But we will still need to quote shipping options, which will slow the ability to pay through the checkout by a few days. We COULD do what so many other companies do which is to charge a sky-high flat shipping rate, but we think our customers would rather wait a couple of days and only pay the actual cost of shipping instead. But even after our checkout is complete and all customers can use it, we will still let all customers call up and pay over the phone, because we know just how much it is appreciated in today's almost completely automated world. And we will continue to offer all customers the option of mailing us a check or money order.
