eMoviePoster.comDid you know... that switching to bi-weekly auctions fifteen months ago has allowed us to do massive amounts of "catching upReturn to Did You Know Archive Added: 03/29/2021 As you likely all know, on January 1, 2020 (after over 20 years of weekly auctions) we switched to bi-weekly auctions. While we knew we wanted to get out of the endless work of working on new auctions every single week (3,000 of them most weeks!), we also thought it would benefit our bidders, who would no longer be chained to their computers or phones EVERY single Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. And to a large degree, that seems to have worked out wonderfully for all our bidders and consignors! After a few months just about everyone seemed to become completely adjusted to the new schedule, and I am betting that just about everyone is happy with the new bi-weekly schedule and would not want to go back to the old "endless" schedule of 3,000 auctions every single week! And because we used this transition time to finally greatly reduce the number of super low value items we auctioned, that has meant that our average price per auction has gone up a LOT, not necessarily because prices are higher, but more often because we have had far fewer $1 to $10 items! And since those items are now in our bulk lots, the quality of those have improved greatly, causing them to also sell for more (because they are now worth so much more)! But there has been an added major side benefit to switching to bi-weekly auctions, which is that it finally gave us time to "catch up" on lots of projects we had not had time to do when we were running auctions every week, from improving several aspects of our website, to improving how out Checkout works, and on and on. But the greatest benefit is that I have finally had time to get a lot of very odd consignments auctions. People would sometimes send items that were of fairly low value and hard to describe, and I had to tell them I could not auction them, because of how busy we were. But once we switched to bi-weekly auctions, I started getting those items auctioned (many of them in bulk lots), and that has made those consignors happy, given our bidders unusual items to bid on, and cleared up lots of storage space we sorely needed. And along the same lines, having that extra time has given us more time to prepare consignments, so we have now auctioned a very high percentage of everything we have been consigned, and we keep getting the last of those items sold, and I look forward to the day when EVERY item that is consigned to us gets auctioned within two months! And when people ask me about how I feel about switching to bi-weekly auctions, my only response is, "I wish I had done it years ago"!
