Did you know... despite switching from weekly to bi-weekly auctions, and despite the world-wide pandemic, we will set an annual Sales Record again this year

At the start of 2020, I announced that, after over 20 years of weekly auctions, we were switching to "every OTHER week" (bi-weekly) auctions! Here's how I explained it at the start of the year:

"WHY AM I MAKING THIS CHANGE? Several reasons!
     1) I have run weekly auctions for just shy of 20 full years (and we had online auctions for a year before we went to regular weekly auctions, and before that we had Major Auctions and semi-annual Sales catalogs for another full ten years), and after 30 years of this (and over 1,654,000 auctions!) I am tired of the non-stop weekly grind (where as soon as one auction is ready, it is time to prepare the next one)!
     2) Of those more than 1,654,000 auctions, over half of them were for items that ended up selling for under $20, and around one quarter were for items that ended up selling for under $10 each. We usually lose money on most of these items (we spend more in labor preparing the auction and packing and shipping the item than we take in on commission from that item). I am tired of working so hard at auctioning items that we lose money on!
     3) I suspect many of the bidders are getting worn out from having to check 999 auctions three times every WEEK (every couple of days), and I suspect they would not mind if they could have more of a break between auctions."

I ALSO announced, that, with far fewer auctions, we would now STRICTLY enforce out always stated policy, which is that "any items we are consigned that realistically sell for under $20 each will be placed in bulk lots". I said that with far fewer auctions we would no longer have time for so many very low priced auctions. However, I added that, by eliminating most of the low priced individual auctions, we can actually start to auction MORE $20+ items a year than we did when we had twice as many auctions!

And I also stated that we WOULDN'T be stopping auctioning low priced items! It is just that we will be auctioning them ONLY in bulk lots, and NOT in single item auctions. And since I hoped to do at least 999 bulk lots every month (instead of our current 500 or so), we can also actually auction more sub-$20 items a year than we did when we had twice as many auctions, except they will be in bulk lots.

WELL, ALL OF THE ABOVE CAME TRUE! We HAVE auctioned more $20+ items than we did with far more auctions, and we HAVE greatly reduced the number of really low priced auctions (and shifted those items into the bulk lot auctions). And our last six bulk lot auctions contained over 180,000 items in all, so we auctioned more items overall in 2020 than in 2019, but we shifted the low priced ones to bulk lots, EXACTLY what we set out to do at the start of the year!

And thanks to having fewer auctions, we were able to have SIX major auctions this year, PLUS our incredible Mondo auction, and all those major auctions mean that we are going to break our all-time yearly sales record set last year (see the below chart). We are at $5,468,396 in yearly sales, with the entire December Major Auction left to add to it!
