For many YEARS now we have been cautioning EVERYONE who sends us packages (especially consignments) to never use a "UPS Store"! Why? Because those stores are NOT the same thing as "sending by UPS". They are franchises that take your package and then charge a markup over the real UPS charges, and often those "markups" are INSANELY high (like charging $60 to send a package, when the real UPS charge is $30, etc).

Now we are sure there are some of these stores that don't mark up the price nearly as badly as others, but how can you know? Much better to simply avoid them altogether. YOU HAVE TO GO ONLINE AND FIND THE NEAREST REAL UPS OUTLET AND TAKE YOUR PACKAGE THERE INSTEAD. It may be a further drive, but surely it is worth it considering the savings.

But now there is a new development in this (new to us, anyway). Two of our customers took very expensive packages to UPS Stores, and both were quoted insane amounts for sending the packages fully insured. In BOTH cases (on two different coasts), the person at the store told the customer they could "save" a lot on shipping by sending them completely UNINSURED!

The first person sadly took them up on the offer, and now the package has mysteriously vanished, and the UPS Store is only paying them the default $100 insurance, even though the package was worth many thousands (and yes, he is now MUCH sadder and wiser). The second person left the uninsured package at the store, but thought to call me, and then, on my advice, he rushed back and retrieved his package, and is now sending it from a REAL UPS location, fully insured.

Please read the above carefully, and don't let this happen to you.
