eMoviePoster.comDid you know... that we just hired 3 new employees?Return to Did You Know Archive Added: 04/23/2018 When we had just one weekly auction on Tuesdays, we had around 10 employees. When we added Thursday auctions, we soon found we needed 20 employees, and when we added Sunday auctions, we found we needed 30 employees! For the past five or so years we have hung around the 30 employee level (usually going higher in the summer with the help of some vacationing college students). Several months ago we lost 3 employees in just a short time (all for different reasons), and over the next few weeks I hired a couple of new people, but that left us with 29 employees. I have been making a greater and greater effort to only hire people who I think are "the best of the best" AND who I think might well end up staying for multiple years, because there is so much learning to do to work here that it doesn't really pay to hire someone who might well just stay a matter of months. But after a couple of months going by without filling that 30th position, I decided to try a special approach. I posted on Facebook that I would pay a $500 "finder's fee" to anyone who recommended someone we would go on to hire! That did the trick, because we got a bunch of resumes, and from those I narrowed it down to three people I interviewed. I was happily surprised to find that I thought all three were qualified, and given the trouble I had finding even one person over the past couple of months, I hired ALL THREE of them! And of course that meant I had to pay three $500 finder's fees, but I was glad to pay that, given that I now have three new employees who I think will fit right in with the others. This means I will now have EXTRA people for the first time in a long time, and once they are fully trained we will able to tackle some "back burner projects" I have not been able to deal with (due to the stress of having to prepare 3,000 auctions every week). Keep an eye on our site and our auctions over the coming months to see what I mean. Just because we already have the biggest and best auctions in the world doesn't mean they can't get better!
