In the past, we have NEVER had a minimum total value for consignments sent to us at one time (as opposed to all other auctions, one of which insists on a whopping $5,000 minimum value for ANY consignment)!

But we have found that a very few of our consignors have taken advantage of this. Sometimes an incoming package of consignments will contain just a few odd lobby cards or stills, and worse yet, sometimes there are a handful of posters of all different types. This is NO problem when the items are of some real value, but sometimes they are just "odds and ends", and sometimes ALL the items put together are barely worth more than the cost of shipping.

WHY is this a problem for us? Because we treat every consignor and consignment the same, so as soon as it arrives, Clark opens the package and sends the consignor an email detailing the types of items sent, and he enters their consignor info into our computers (if they are a new consignor) or checks to see that their info has not changed (if they are an existing consignor).

He then prepares the items for the auctions they will go into, and if there are seven different types, he has to get them ready for seven different auctions! So a package like this might take a half hour of his time, and he does not have that time to spare on low value items, especially because we usually get at least ten or twenty packages EVERY day!

We suspect that this happens because people come across these "odds and ends" and can't bear the idea of throwing them out, so they send them to us! But like we said, this is a huge "time-waster" for us, so if we continue to have this happen, then we will be forced to institute a minimum total value for consignments sent to us at one time (but we promise that even if that does happen, it will be some very reasonable minimum, like $100, and certainly nothing like the insane $5,000 minimum of one of our competitors!).
