eMoviePoster.comDid You Know... that this is our lucky 777th weekly email club message?Return to Did You Know Archive Added: 12/28/2015 In case you haven't noticed, we like "round" or "special" numbers, and what a significant one 777 is! Not only is it "lucky", but it's also the number of club messages we have sent as of this writing. The first one was sent in June of 1998 (over 17 years ago). While these were not sent in 777 consecutive weeks (we take a break once in a while from club messages even though we virtually never miss any weekly auctions!), they were sent over the course of 913 weeks, so we have "missed" sending messages 136 weeks out of those 17 years, a few because we just wanted a "break", but most of those were "skipped" simply because we were working too hard on major auctions (or special weekly ones) to have time to send a club message that week! You can read any or all of our 777 past club messages HERE: https://www.emovieposter.com/club/archive.php This is great for those of you who have only recently joined the club, but no one can accurately remember ALL the info we had in all those club messages, so the above link also has a great (and accurate) search box that lets you quickly find what we have written on a topic of interest to you! Over the years, we've ran many different features in our weekly email club messages. Before our Daily Face/Off (over 1,700 of them to date!), we ran many polls of all kinds (with lots of choices in each one) and you will find the polls and their results in many past messages. In our older messages, I would spend several hours each week compiling questions I was emailed by club members (covering every imaginable aspect of movie posters and collecting them) and I would write out long answers to each. Eventually I was just busy each week to keep doing this, but EVERY one of those questions and answers can be found in the club messages at https://www.emovieposter.com/club/archive.php (and they can be searched at this page). In 2009 and 2010 (and one each in 2011 and 2012), we ran monthly comic strip ads by Erik Andresen in Movie Collectors World magazine (which merged with Classic Images a couple of years ago). Shortly after the comic strips ended in 2010, we began our weekly series, "Did You Know" (you're reading one right now!) where we cover all sorts of topics
whether they be about new features of our website, breaking movie paper news, updates about our website, our milestones, or articles about why people
collect what they do and how they do it. A year later in January 2011, we began our weekly series, "Cool Item of the Week", where I share one item from my "pressbook and campaign book collection" each week. There are now over 240 items to view there! In 2013, collector and film teacher, Gabe Taverney, did a GREAT sixteen part series entitled, "Against the Grain", where he got to share his extensive film knowledge with club members specifically about black film pioneers. There is some really wonderful information here, and I'm sure everyone will learn much about these legendary actors and actresses. In 2014, we began creating fun "memes" where we take a scene from a film (or a poster) and "spoof" it. These can be really fun, and we recommend you check out the more than 55 of them currently in our Meme Archive. A few weeks ago, we ran "From the Newsstand to the Silver Screen" containing a gallery of 62 examples of comic book or pulp magazine characters that were adapted into Hollywood movies (there is an example of a comic book or pulp magazine) side by side with a movie poster image from the movie starring that character. We will keep bringing you new (and fun) features in this club, so stay tuned! See Also:
