eMoviePoster.com - The most trusted vintage original movie poster site & the only major online auction with no buyers premiums!
Did you know... that in addition to having almost a MILLION movie poster images, our website is also packed with written information about every aspect of movie paper collecting?
Return to Did You Know ArchiveAdded: 12/29/2014
Just about every movie paper collector knows that we auction well over 100,000 items a year, in
three sets of weekly auctions. But do you also know just HOW MUCH else you
can find on our site (over one MILLION images and also TONS of written
information on every aspect of the hobby)? Here they are:
- The biggest resource we have is our
Auction History which - at the
time of this writing - contains 1,040,954 records with 980,524 images, and it is a searchable
history of our past sales including most of the images from those sales. Every item in this archive
actually sold, and it actually sold for the price listed (because if the sale "fell through" or the
price was re-negotiated, then the result would not appear, and this is not true of ANY other
online database)!
RECENT IMPROVEMENT! It used to be that you could only search our Auction History, but
we now we have "Search
Filters" (located down the left side of all Auction History pages), and when you view it on the main
Auction History page, you can
click poster sizes, countries, "extra details", decades, genres, top stars, studios, artists, or
quantity to see all the items of that type that we have had! We many people of you have spent hours
upon hours enjoying digging around it! If you haven't checked it out, you REALLY need to
today. Your movie poster collecting life may never be the same again!
SIDE BAR: Also included in our Auction History is the
Hershenson/Allen Archive
which is a collection of over 41,000 movie poster images (including a HIGH percentage of the
best posters known to exist) and all are available for lease (scanned at high
resolution from high quality 4" by 5" color transparencies)! |
- Also, why not take a moment to look over our past 207
"Did You Know...?" articles in our Did You Know
Archive? These articles range from website updates to detailed info about reproductions to
bidding theory and virtually anything else related to the collectibles we all know and love...
vintage movie paper!
- Our
Cool Item of the Week Archive is also a visual treat! As many of our
Weekly E-Mail Club members know, I,
Bruce Hershenson, owner of eMoviePoster.com, have collected pressbooks (and related movie paper like
studio yearbooks) for over 30 years, and I have the world's foremost collection of such material. I
thought I would share one item with you each week, the type of items you almost surely have never
seen before, and which might not come up for sale for DECADES! As of this writing, I have now
shared 194 pieces of my collection.
- One collector and film historian, Gabe Taverney, wrote a series of
16 articles entitled Against the Grain:
Black Film Pioneers. This is truly a wonderful collection of in-depth articles about well
known and not-so-well known black actors who were not only among the first black actors to achieve
success in Hollywood, but Gabe selected actors who took non-stereotyped roles and really paved the
way for later generations.
