Did you know... that stills are moving to Sundays and unfolded one-sheets are moving to Thursdays?Return to Did You Know Archive Added: 09/23/2013 It seems like just a short time ago that we added Sunday auctions, but actually our Sunday auction that begins the 29th will be our TWO HUNDREDTH Sunday auction (not consecutive Sundays, because we were every other Sunday for a while). A few months ago, we started a regular schedule of Sunday auctions, with unfolded one-sheets two Sundays a month, "bulk lots" once a month, and miscellaneous items (all items not covered by our other regular weekly auctions, like pressbooks, hardcover books, etc) once a month. This has worked out quite well, but now we are making a change! It is a simple change. We will still have "bulk lots" once a month, and miscellaneous items once a month, but the two Sunday auctions that formerly had unfolded one-sheets will now instead consist of one Sunday auction of single vintage stills, and another of multiple vintage stills! We expect to hold to this schedule through the end of the year at least, and then there will likely be yet another shift. Why the need for these changes? Because we have no "inventory"! What we auction is completely determined by what is sent to us. We at one time were consigned incredible collections of movie glass slides, movie magazines, sheet music, etc, and during those times we auction lots of those sizes, but when only a few trickle in, then we can only auction them every six months or so in our Sunday auctions of miscellaneous items. We NEVER know what the future holds! We auction SO MUCH more than all other auction houses combined together (over 110,000 items per year) that we ALWAYS need more consignments! There have been times when two or three trucks filled with posters show up here in a short time, and it seems like our consignment worries are over, but it is never too long before our supply runs low again. Look for our first Sunday auction of 999 vintage single stills to begin Sunday September 22nd (right after our current bulk lots end). And look for our first Thursday auction of 850 unfolded one-sheets to begin Thursday September 26th (right after our current half-sheets and inserts end)!
