Did you know that for years we have marveled at other auctions. In 1990, they had a 10% "buyers premium" (a fee added on after the auction closed), and most buyers found it annoying, but endurable. But then in 1996 they raised it to 15%, and lots of buyers started becoming really annoyed.

Worse yet, that extra money was coming out of the CONSIGNORS' pockets, because they see none of this extra charge (and many are not even told of it). A few years later, the buyers premium was raised yet again, this time to 20%, and there it has stuck for a number of years. And we prepared a chart that shows just HOW MUCH less consignors receive from an auction that charges 20% than from us, who has NO BUYERS PREMIUMS at all!

But NOW the #2 auction house for movie paper (after us) announced that "Starting with Auction 162415, all future Movie Posters Auctions will be subject to graduated Buyer's Premium; 25% on the first $1,000,000 (minimum $29) plus 20% of any amount between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000, plus 15% of any amount over $5,000,000 per lot."

This creates a GIANT headache for us. We need to now go though our site, and anyone it says that other auctions charge 20%, we have to change it to 20% or 25%, and we also need to recalculate just how much less consignors to that auction house will now receive than they used to, and how much better off consignors are to consign to us!

Now I am sure all of you feel sorry for us that we need to do all this, but you should feel MUCH sorrier for yourselves, especially if you are currently a consignor to that auction house, or were thinking of consigning in the future. Because now you will receive so much less, I can't see why ANYONE would not consign to us over them or ANY other auction!

And in related news, eMoviePoster.com's 0% buyers premium will remain 0%, just as always!
