eMoviePoster.comDid you know... that there was a massive "changing of the guard" at another major auction, and that it has been mostly hushed up?Return to Did You Know Archive Added: 02/14/2022 A couple of weeks ago, the movie poster hobby was shocked to learn that the person who had created the movie poster department at another major auction had completely left that company. That person had overseen every movie poster auction that company had run over the past many years, and in a blink of an eye, they were a "non-person" there, with their name scrubbed from their site (the only reason the hobby learned of it was that the person posted the news themselves on a few sites). The new head of that department is now a person who has a lot of experience with memorabilia, but very little with posters, and that may be a big part of why this has been hushed up so far. Anyone who has dealt with that company likely had many personal dealings with their now former head, and they may not be nearly as comfortable in dealing with someone else, especially someone with VERY little movie poster experience. I can easily see the company trying to keep this news from those they dealt with in the past. And in clearly related news, the next major auction this company had scheduled (for March) has now been pushed back an entire month. Maybe the new head of operations is learning just how important the former head was to this company. Time will tell how much of an impact this change will have on that company, but clearly, this is a time of great uncertainty. And whatever the former head chooses to do next, we wish him the very best of luck in his future endeavors! And in light of this recent announcement that caught the hobby completely unawares, many have asked me to tell them if any similar changes are forthcoming in top management at eMoviePoster.com. I want everyone to know that I, Bruce Hershenson, remain the owner/operator of eMoviePoster.com Auctions after 32 years at the helm. And I have no plans to change that! And if anyone wonders about my health, know that I recently had the most complete comprehensive multi-day physical check-up imaginable (at the famed Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota), costing a veritable fortune, and the results were wonderful! I received a completely clean "bill of health". Of course that is likely related to lucky genetics (thanks mom and dad!), and the fact that I don't smoke, drink or do drugs of any kind, and I have never even had a cup of coffee or smoked a cigarette (plus I walk 40 minutes a day or more)! But much more than any of that, I love what I do, and I can't see why I would want to change that by retiring. As the old saying goes, "Find a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life", and I am living proof of that. So if YOU have items you would consider consigning, all of the above is just one more great reason why you should surely choose eMoviePoster.com over ANY other auction!
