eMoviePoster.comDid you know... that we "qualify" our bidders FAR more than any other major auctions?Return to Did You Know Archive Added: 03/18/2019 When someone wants to bid in our auctions, they need to register to bid. THAT is pretty standard for EVERY auction, online, and brick and mortar. But almost every auction (OTHER THAN eMoviePoster.com) intentionally makes it super easy to register. A little data entered, and a couple of clicks later you can usually start bidding up a storm. Most auctions see this as a giant plus, because they want it to be super easy to make "impulse" bids on their items. But there is a BIG problem with such "heat of the moment" bids. Once the impulse fades, the person often thinks "Why did I do that?". If they are on eBay, they can actually "retract" their bid, which is incredibly unfair to the REAL high bidder, because now their "secret maximum bid" has been exposed to the world. On just about every other type of online auction (again, OTHER THAN eMoviePoster.com) you can simply "walk away" from your bid. Simply ignore their notification emails about winning the item, and they do little or nothing to make you pay (or you can claim you "made a mistake", and that usually ends it). And even if they then close your account, it is almost always incredibly easy to open a second account with slightly changed data, and you can start the process over. And there ARE some people who are "prank" bidders, who like to "run up" real bidders, and when they get "stuck" as the high bidder, they simply walk away (and then do it account with new accounts). They may be in cahoots with the auction house or the consignor of the item, or they may just perversely like to cost other people extra money. But not at eMoviePoster.com! We qualify our bidders before letting them bid, which means you will always be bidding against real bidders who honor their bids. What does "qualify" mean in this context? Some of it is secret (we don't want to give all our secrets to the bad guys!), but we spend considerable effort making sure the bidders are "real" and that they are not anyone who was kicked off our site before for not honoring their high bids. Because we auction so much, we constantly have people who were kicked off trying to get back on, but we don't allow it. We want only bidders who ALWAYS honor their bids. If this means new bidders need to wait a few hours (or even a day) before being able to bid, then so be it. And we are certain that our tens of thousands of bidders feel it is a VERY worthwhile trade-off! Tags (?): #AuctionRelated, #NewCustomers
