eMoviePoster.comCool Item Of the Week: Madame Spy pressbookReturn to Cool Item of the Month Archive Added: 12/17/2018 As many of you know, I, Bruce Hershenson, owner of eMoviePoster.com, have collected pressbooks (and related movie paper like studio yearbooks) for over 30 years, and I have the world's foremost collection of such material. I thought I would share one item with you each week, the type of items you almost surely have never seen before, and which might not come up for sale for DECADES! So below is the pressbook from Madame Spy, the 1934 Karl Freund World War I (WWI) espionage romantic melodrama ("The dazzling Career of an Adventuress"; about a German pilot who is also a spy, who crash lands in Poland, and he is nursed back to health by a woman who is secretly a Russian spy, and they fall in love without knowing the truth about each other, and after many adventures, he is arrested, and she helps him escape, which causes her to be sentenced to death, and as she prepares to commit suicide, he meets with her and they embrace!) starring Fay Wray, Nils Asther, Noah Beery Sr., Robert Graves, Vince Barnett, Edward Arnold, John Miljan, Robert Ellis, and David Torrence. Note that this movie was a remake of a 1932 German movie, and it was remade in 1942 (with the plot updated to World War II) with Constance Bennett and Don Porter in the lead roles. Here is an image of the pressbook's cover and two interior pages: Each week I will showcase a different pressbook (or related item) from my collection (so in just 20,000 weeks or so, I will have shared the entire collection with you!). And remember to check out our previous Cool Items of the Week in our Cool Item of the Week archive (which is fully searchable!).
