eMoviePoster.comCool Item Of the Week: The Glass Web 3D and 2D pressbooksReturn to Cool Item of the Month Archive Added: 01/01/2018 As many of you know, I, Bruce Hershenson, owner of eMoviePoster.com, have collected pressbooks (and related movie paper like studio yearbooks) for over 30 years, and I have the world's foremost collection of such material. I thought I would share one item with you each week, the type of items you almost surely have never seen before, and which might not come up for sale for DECADES! This week, I have the pressbook from The Glass Web, the 1953 Jack Arnold 3-D (3D; 3-Dimension) crime thriller ("The ultimate in shocking, suspenseful 3-D"; "Too many men in her life... Too many lies on her lips... Too many kisses in her past!"; "Paula was bad, beautiful and bold as sin ...and born to be murdered!"; "She was bad, beautiful and bold as sin ...and born to be murdered!"; "The ultimate in shocking SUSPENSE!"; "Thrills never before seen in 3-D!"; "Blonde beautiful and bold as sin!") starring Edward G. Robinson, John Forsythe, Marcia Henderson, Kathleen Hughes ("That 3-D Sensation of 'It Came From Outer Space'"), and Richard Denning. Note that this movie was originally in 3-D. The studios created both 3D and 2D posters and lobby cards (the 2-D posters and lobby cards were for theaters that lacked the 3-D equipment). Bizarrely, Universal massively "cheaped out" on the 2-D posters, and they used the exact same posters as for the 3-D release (with a cool 3-D image), but they whited out the large 3-D emblem at top right and put the words "SHOCKING SUSPENSE!" in that area! This poster is from that "2-D" release. Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Here is an image of the front covers and back covers of the 2-D and 3-D pressbooks: Each week I will showcase a different pressbook (or related item) from my collection (so in just 25,000 weeks or so, I will have shared the entire collection with you!).
