Details About These Thursday Items

Why are we auctioning both oversized rolled and oversized flat items in the same set of auctions, and why are there so few items overall?
We are doing this because we have only a limited number of "very oversized" or "oversized" flat items and also a limited number of "oversized" rolled items. Neither is not enough for their own set of auctions, so we combined them. There are "only" 402 items in all, but they include many very interesting ones, and we are OK with there being fewer items so you have more time to browse these rare and unique items!

About the 402 "very oversized" or "oversized" rolled items
The 402 items we are currently auctioning in this set of auctions need to EITHER be shipped either in tubes over 30" (most much longer) OR in very large boxes (some REALLY large). There are many items you may well not see again for sale or auction for many years to come, and there is an amazing variety of all sorts of items, covering all years, sizes, and genres, so be sure to look through all of these items (in addition to looking at the chart below). If you miss some of these items, you may never again get a chance at them! However, please bear in mind that many of these items have some condition issues. All can be restored, but bear that added expense in mind before placing a bid. Of course, you might prefer to wait for a better example of that item to come along, but some of these items only come along once every decade or two, so it could be a very long wait!

Where did this amazing collection of 120 board games come from?
A consignor contacted us with his collection of 120 board games that he had assembled over decades. Since almost all are related to movies or TV shows, we thought "we can auction them"! However, we are far from experts in board games, so we pictured all the items and gave an overall condition grade, and we leave it to the bidders to decide what they are worth (but they need to realize that they are seeing everything we know about the game in our pictures and in our brief descriptions). We don't know what these games should sell for, but they sure are cool, and they will greatly liven up your next party!

About the shipping of the current 402 "very oversized" or "oversized" rolled items
All of the items we are currently auctioning are "very oversized" or "oversized", meaning that they can't be sent in our tubes that measure 30" or shorter (except for the limited number of paper banners at the end of the auction, which can go in shorter tubes, but they can't be combined with other rolled items) or our standard flat packages. This means that, this week only, we will combine shipments of items that are safe to combine (but if you win items of different types that ship in more than one package, you will be charged for more than one package), and remember that all of these items are marked as "actual cost of shipping", so bear that in mind before bidding.
It should be pretty simple to tell which items can ship "rolled" and which "flat" (it is noted on each individual auction page and in the chart above). Either way, you will likely have to pay a greater amount for shipping than normal (especially if you live outside the U.S.). Because we are selling many different sizes of items (many "oversized"), our shipping estimate charts below for non-U.S. buyers are only of limited use (and the actual cost can vary drastically from the chart, so PLEASE do not think that you can rely on them!), due to the wide variance of the size of packages, so if knowing the actual shipping cost is important to you before you bid, please contact us with the item or items, along with where you live.

About the condition
We give a detailed overall condition grade ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good", and only a few which are "good" or lesser) along with more details about the condition described in words (where we thought additional details were needed, because the defects were hard to see). We felt this would help bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily. Of course, we could not describe every single defect, so we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the still for minor defects that we did NOT describe.

U.S. Shipping Details

THIS WEEK ONLY, all buyers (U.S. AND non-U.S.) must pay the actual cost of sending your order, plus $3 for the packaging materials (and remember as described above, some ship rolled and others flat, so if you win both types, you will be charged for two packages). After winning, you need to request a shipping quote through our Checkout system. Learn the exact details of flat rate shipping

Why don't we have a "flat rate" for U.S. orders this week, like we do most weeks? Because we are selling "very oversized" or "oversized" posters of all shapes and sizes, some of which must be sent in our custom-made extra heavy duty gorilla proof mailing tubes and others in really oversized flat packages, shipping will vary greatly depending on how many items you get, what the weight of the posters are, if they fit in the same tube or package, and where you live. Generally it will cost $35 at the very least to send an oversized tube or flat package anywhere in the U.S. by either U.S. mail or UPS, fully insured (all U.S. orders MUST be fully insured).

Can we send your order in a less expensive way? We have purchased movie paper items many hundreds of times over the Internet ourselves, and we have seen the tubes and oversized flat packages that other sellers use (both the free kind and the kind purchased at shipping supply stores), and the protection offered by those tubes is spotty at best (those cheaper tubes will often get bent resulting in creasing or tearing to the poster, or in extreme cases, a tube can even lose a cap from an end resulting in the buyer receiving a tube but no posters!), so please do not ask us to use a lighter weight tube or less expensive packing materials to save on shipping, because we won't do it! We know that once you see our tubes you will agree that they are a great investment in protecting your purchase(s) and you will wonder why other sellers of vintage movie paper do not use these same tubes and oversized flat packages (and if somehow you don't agree with us, we ask you not to bid at all!).

Do you need "signature required"?
Neither UPS nor USPS automatically require a signature to deliver packages, so if you want the signature to be required, you will need to pay the extra $4.25 for UPS or $2.45 for USPS that they charge for "signature required", and please realize that they will then NOT leave the package at the door, and you may well have to go to the UPS or USPS facility yourself to pick it up if you aren't there to meet the delivery person. But if you prefer this, that is fine, and if you have any other special requirements, please tell us when you are paying for your order. IF YOU DO NOT SPECIFY THAT YOU WANT SIGNATURE REQUIRED, THEN YOUR PACKAGE WILL BE SENT WITHOUT SIGNATURE REQUIRED (unless your package has a dollar value over $300, in which case we will always send it with signature required, unless you specifically tell us not to, and accept responsibility for the package if it is stolen from your porch or lobby)!

You CAN usually combine shipment!

NOTE: These Thursday items need to be sent in a variety of ways (as noted on the individual auction pages and in the chart above) so...

*Most "flat" items can be combined with these auctions and we will combine them automatically if there is no chance of damage to any of them items you win:

Sunday April 8th 11x14s, books, glass slides, & more
Thursday April 12th single lobby cards
Thursday April 19th complete and incomplete lobby card sets
Sunday April 22nd single 8x10 stills
Tuesday May 1st flat package items in Part II of Spring Major Auction
Thursday May 3rd "flat" items in Part III of Spring Major Auction
Sunday May 6th groups of 2 or more stills from the same title
Tuesday May 8th folded one-sheets

*Most "rolled" items can be combined with these auctions and we will combine them automatically if there is no chance of damage to any of them items you win:

Tuesday April 10th rolled non-U.S. posters
Sunday April 15th rolled one-sheets
Tuesday April 17th inserts and half-sheets
Tuesday April 24th rolled non-U.S. posters
Thursday April 26th rolled posters of different types
Thursday May 3rd "rolled" items in Part III of Spring Major Auction

*they must be sent separately from these auctions for an additional shipping charge:

Sunday April 29th linenbacked posters in Part I of Spring Major Auction
Thursday May 3rd "linenbacked" items in Part III of Spring Major Auction

Note that we not only allow you to combine as many items as you want from a single set of Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Sunday auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge for all of the items (even if you get 100 or more, but solely from a single set!), but we also allow you to wait until the next three weeks of auctions end (a total of up to nine sets of auctions) so that you can combine your current purchases with those of our following auctions (if possible; see Learn More About Combining), and that means there is a chance you could combine items from up to nine of our sets of auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge (assuming those items fit into the same type of package, but of course, there is a limit to how many items can fit in a single package or tube, and if you end up with several packages, you will need to pay that many shipping charges; Learn More About Combining). Since around half of our auctions have items that ship in tubes and the other half have items that ship in flat packages, and since few of those items can be combined, most of our regular buyers end up with at least two packages after three weeks. We KNOW there are other sellers who charge a little less on shipping than we do (and of course, there are others who charge far more!), but none of the ones with lower rates offer the same generous flat rate shipping we do, and we know that our packaging is the best there is, and our orders virtually never arrive damaged (and on the very rare times that they do, all our U.S. packages are fully insured, and FULL INSURANCE IS INCLUDED IN THE U.S. SHIPPING CHARGE).

AS STATED IN THE CHART ABOVE, DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE COST OF U.S. SHIPPING PLUS $3 FOR PACKAGING MATERIALS (and on a week like this, when we use very large tubes or boxes, the $3 usually does not come close to covering the cost of those materials). MANY OF THE ITEMS WE ARE CURRENTLY AUCTIONING WILL COST A HIGH AMOUNT TO SEND, SO BEAR THIS ADDED COST IN MIND BEFORE PLACING A BID ON THOSE ITEMS!

Non-U.S. Shipping Details

Non-U.S. buyers must pay the actual cost of shipping their order (you can choose whatever method you prefer), plus $3 for packaging materials. All non-U.S. buyers must tell us if they want the package sent insured or uninsured at the time they pay for their order. KNOW THAT IT IS USUALLY MORE EXPENSIVE (SOMETIMES MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE) TO SEND THESE OVERSIZED ITEMS OUTSIDE THE U.S., AND THE BELOW CHARTS ARE ONLY A VERY ROUGH GUIDE TO THE ACTUAL COSTS. We do not make a penny on the shipping (because we charge the actual cost), BUT PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THE SUBSTANTIAL ADDED SHIPPING COSTS BEFORE YOU PLACE A BID ON THESE ITEMS!

Have you heard about our Pay and Hold Program?
This lets non-U.S. buyers pay for their purchases from 6 consecutive weeks (a total of 18 auctions and around 15,000+ items!), and we then send all your purchases at once saving you LOTS of money!  Click HERE to learn more about becoming one of the hundreds of our non-U.S. buyers who are already part of this program.

Here is a chart containing estimated shipping charges for up to 3 items from this week's auctions (note these are ESTIMATES only, and your actual shipping may vary considerably;
ALSO NOTE THAT THESE ARE ESTIMATED RATES FOR THE SMALLER ITEMS WE ARE AUCTIONING; IF YOU WIN ANY OF THE LARGER ITEMS, THEY WILL COST CONSIDERABLY MORE TO SHIP, SOME QUITE A BIT MORE (perhaps $100 or more)
)
(Note: Insured quotes are based on a $200 value; you pay $1.60 more for each additional $100 of insurance)

Type of Shipping Canada/Mexico Australian/Asia/Japan Everywhere Else (inc Europe)
Priority Mail Int'l - Uninsured $49.93 $58.10 $61.19
Priority Mail Express Int'l - Uninsured $65.27 $80.90 $74.49
First Class* (under 4 lbs ONLY) N/A* N/A* N/A*
*First Class has a weight limit of 4 lbs AND a dimensional limit. Posters wider than 28 inches (or 71 cm) can NOT be shipped via First Class. A single linenbacked one-sheet and shipping tube usually exceeds this weight limit and that is why we don't provide estimates for First Class.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please bear these approximate shipping cost in mind BEFORE you place a bid (if you live outside the U.S.). The vast majority of our customers want a very securely packed tube, and will pay the extra shipping cost involved (and of course, it goes to the Post Office or UPS, and not us!). Please do not ask us to pack less securely, as that would likely result in a damaged order.
Some sellers are sending by Ground UPS to Canada, but that incurs large "brokerage fees", so we do not recommend it.  Note that there are also some sellers sending non-U.S. packages via a "Letter" rate, but of course this is not legal, and we can not do this.  We have outlined the possibilities for sending non-U.S. packages above, so please read that carefully, BEFORE placing a bid!

AS STATED IN THE CHART ABOVE, DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING PLUS $3 FOR PACKAGING MATERIALS (and on a week like this, when we use very large tubes or boxes, the $3 usually does not come close to covering the cost of those materials). MANY OF THE ITEMS WE ARE CURRENTLY AUCTIONING WILL COST A HIGH AMOUNT TO SEND, SO BEAR THIS ADDED COST IN MIND BEFORE PLACING A BID ON THOSE ITEMS!
