A special note about the programs contained in this
auction
Over the past few years, we have offered collections of German and Austrian programs,
which were some of the best collections imaginable, because the
collectors who put them together were trying to get as many of the highlights of German cinema (and the world's
cinema) from all years.
We THOUGHT that we would never get another
collection like those, but now we have been consigned one that is similar to those past ones! It
has quite a few of the same programs we have auctioned in the past, but it also contains some
that we have NEVER auctioned before! This one has a very wide range, covering all the
decades from the 1920s to the present, and there are programs not only from Germany, but also
from other countries (see below).
Note that while 441 of the programs we are auctioning are
from Germany (and we have divided them into four sections, depending on the years; see our chart
above), there are also lots from Austria, East
Germany, Denmark, and a few ultra-rare ones from England and Iceland. Note that Germany and Austria were completely
separate until Hitler annexed Austria, and they were again separate right
after World War II. There are differences between the programs from the two
countries, most notably the sizes, and we clearly identify which of the two
countries each program is from. Of course, East Germany became its own
country after World War II, and at first they did not show "western movies",
but starting in the 1950s they did, and this collection includes a nice
selection of those programs as well.
Also note that there were two entirely different
major companies that made programs in Germany (and there were a few smaller companies
over the years). Both of these companies made programs right when the
movies first came out, and the programs from the same movies usually look
entirely different from each other. In a few cases, we have two programs
from the same movie that are from the different companies, and both are
first release.
This auction also contains lots of programs from Denmark, which are similar
to the German and Austrian programs, except they are smaller (we always note the exact sizes of
the programs on each auction). This is a wonderful opportunity to get original first release movie paper on
titles where you never ever see any first release items offered for sale (or
if you do, they are priced so high that they are beyond the reach of all but
the wealthiest of collectors)!
Important note about "conditional" &
"forbidden" German movies
Immediately after the end of World War II, a list of around 100 Nazi-made movies was created,
and it was decreed that those movies (called "forbidden" movies) could NEVER be shown
again, due to their Nazi propaganda content (the most famous of these are the anti-Semitic ones,
like JUD SUSS and THE ETERNAL JEW). Over the next decade, the list was
re-examined, and it was narrowed down to around 40 movies. At that time, it was decided that the
other 60 or so movies could now be shown, but those 40 remaining movies were declared
"conditional" movies, meaning they are forbidden to be shown in Germany or Austria, even in the
present day, with the sole exception being when they are shown in an educational context, like
at a university, and a speaker talks before and after the movie. The collection we are
auctioning includes many programs from movies that are on solely the "conditional" list, as well
as programs from movies that are not "conditional", but are on the "forbidden" list, and also a
very few programs from movies that are not on either list, but which likely should have been on
one or the other! In every case, we have clearly noted on the auction which list the movie is
on.
About the condition of the items
Note that we give a detailed overall condition grade to every item we sell ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good",
and "good", with only a few graded "fair" or lesser) along with more details about the condition described in words (but pretty much
a general description of the defects, and we only describe specific defects if they are
the type that CAN'T be seen in our super-sized images, or if the item is especially valuable). We felt this would help bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily. Of course, we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe.
Of course, with the items that have many pages, we could not photograph
every single page, but we often photograph both covers and an interior
two-page spread, which should surely give you an excellent idea of the
overall condition of that item. |
U.S. Shipping Details
U.S. buyers need to enclose $7 or $11 shipping (which includes full
insurance), no matter how many items you purchase from this set of auctions! NOTE: Our
$7 or $11 flat
rate shipping is good for three weeks. If you haven't paid within three weeks, you will then be
quoted the actual cost of shipping
when you request it.
Missouri
customers: You must pay an additional 7.162% sales tax on your
purchases. If your order is sent within the state of Missouri, we MUST
collect this tax (if it is shipped to another state, we do not collect the tax).
Will your order be
shipped to you by UPS?
UPS does NOT automatically require a signature
to deliver packages, so if you want the signature to be required, you will
need to pay the extra $3.00 UPS charges for "signature required" Delivery
Confirmation, and please realize that they will then NOT leave the
package, and you may well have to go to the UPS facility yourself to pick it
up. But if you prefer this, that is fine, and if you have any other
special requirements, please tell us when you are paying for your order.
IF YOU DO NOT SPECIFY THAT YOU WANT SIGNATURE REQUIRED, THEN YOUR PACKAGE
WILL BE SENT WITHOUT SIGNATURE REQUIRED!
You CAN usually combine shipment!
NOTE: These Sunday
items need to be sent in flat packages so...
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT COMBINING: Flat rate shipping is good for 3 weeks worth of
purchases. If you win items over a span of more than 21 days, you will then be charged the
actual cost of shipping plus $3 for packing materials.

Note that we not only allow you to combine as many items as you want from a single
set of Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Sunday auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge for all of the items, but we also allow you to wait until
the next three weeks of auctions end (a total of up to eight sets of auctions) so that you can combine your current purchases with those of our following auctions
(if possible), and that means there
is a chance you could combine items from up to eight of our sets of auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge (assuming those items fit into the same type of package,
but of course, there is a limit to how many items can fit in a single package or tube, and if
you end up with several packages, you will need to pay that many shipping charges). We KNOW there are other sellers who charge a little less on shipping than we do, but we know that our packaging is the best there is, and our orders virtually never arrive damaged (and on the very rare times that they do, all our U.S. packages are fully insured, and
FULL INSURANCE IS INCLUDED IN THE U.S. SHIPPING CHARGE).
DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS
UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE $7 or $11 U.S. SHIPPING!

Non-U.S. Shipping Details
Non-U.S. buyers must pay the actual cost of shipping their
order (you can choose whatever method you prefer, but know that the U.S. Post Office has
eliminated Surface Mail, so we can only send via Express or Airmail), plus $3 for the best
packaging materials you have ever seen. All non-U.S. buyers must tell us if they want the
package sent insured or uninsured at the time they pay for their order.
PLEASE KNOW THAT ALL OF THE BOOKS & AUCTION CATALOGS ARE HEAVY (some
extremely heavy!), SO BEAR THIS IN MIND BEFORE PLACING BIDS ON THEM IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE THE
U.S.
Have you heard about our Pay and Hold
Program?
This lets non-U.S. buyers pay for their purchases from 6 consecutive weeks
(a total of 15 auctions and around 12,000+ items!), and we then send all your
purchases at once saving you LOTS of money! Click
HERE to learn more (if you are not one of the hundreds of our
non-U.S. buyers who are already part of this program).

Here is a chart
containing estimated shipping charges for up to 3 items from this set of
auctions
NOTE: These are ESTIMATES only, and your actual shipping may be more or less than
these estimates.
ALSO NOTE: Insurance will increase the cost of shipping by $1.60 for each
$100 of insurance. |

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please bear these
approximate shipping cost in mind BEFORE you place a bid (if
you live outside the U.S.). The vast majority of our customers want a very
securely packed tube, and will pay the extra shipping cost involved (and of
course, it goes to the Post Office or UPS, and not us!). Please do not ask
us to pack less securely, as that would likely result in a damaged order. Some sellers are sending by Ground UPS to Canada, but that incurs large
"brokerage fees", so we do not recommend it. Note that there are also
some sellers sending non-U.S. packages via a "Letter" rate, but of course
this is not legal, and we can not do this. We have outlined the
possibilities for sending non-U.S. packages above, so please read that
carefully, BEFORE placing a bid!
DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING (the
actual cost of shipping plus $3 outside the U.S.)!
