About This Special All-Autograph Auction
About this special auction of 851
autographed items This is the NINTH
"all-signed" auction from eMoviePoster.com, and this is our best one yet! Not
only does it contain the remarkable 57 items from the Jon Robert Shaps
autograph collection (see below), but it also contains a huge number of signed
items of all types, covering every decade of moviemaking, from the earliest
silents to the present day, plus there are many non-movie-related autographed
items as well! We can't imagine anyone who has the slightest interest in
autographed items not finding several items to bid on, and more likely, you may
find that there are so many items of interest to you that it is hard to decide
which ones you most want to pursue.
About the authenticity of the 851
autographed items being offered 57
of the items offered are from the Jon Robert Shaps autograph collection, and
those have impeccable provenance (see below). A high percentage of the other autographed items come to us from
several different collectors/dealers who spent decades acquiring their
autographs. We have put a paragraph (or sentence) on each
auction, giving the history of how the consignor obtained the autograph (to
whatever degree we know).
IN EVERY CASE, WE HAVE GIVEN ALL OF THE INFORMATION WE KNOW ABOUT WHERE THE
AUTOGRAPH WAS OBTAINED IN THE AUCTION DESCRIPTION FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL ITEM.
39 of the
items come with a "Certificate of Authenticity", and we have
provided an image of those, and identified the name of the issuer of that
certificate. Please read over each auction description carefully, so you will
know all we know about the provenance of that item.
WE DID NOT INCLUDE ANY ITEMS IN THIS AUCTION IF
WE HAD A DOUBT AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE AUTOGRAPH IS AUTHENTIC! We suggest
that all bidders do whatever research they want to do about the autographs
BEFORE placing bids (such as comparing the signatures to other known
signatures found on the Internet).
But we know how hard it is to be certain of an autograph's
authenticity when you are not seeing the item in person. So, to make certain
that we only have satisfied buyers, we will
give anyone who purchases any of these a 30 day return privilege (from the
date the auction closes) on any of these autographed items, and of
course, that gives every buyer plenty of time to be 100% certain that they
have purchased a genuine autograph!
Of course, we don't want people returning items because
they "changed their minds", and it is vital that any returned items must be
returned safely (ideally in the same packing) and received in the exact same
condition it was sent, and the return offer will expire exactly 30 days after
the auction closes (because we must pay our consignors).
Approximately one half of the items offered are vintage
items, and approximately one half of the items are later reproductions (but
some of the reproductions date from the 1970s), and WE ALWAYS CLEARLY
IDENTIFY WHICH IS WHICH.
But, IN EVERY CASE, every one of these items was personally signed
by the person listed! We know they make wonderful special gifts to those
friends or family who you know really like a specific celebrity!
About the Jon Robert Shaps autograph collection
Contained in this special auction are 57 items that were consigned to us by the brother of Jon Robert Shaps, a celebrity photographer in the 1970s and 1980s. This is a truly remarkable collection of signed items! We have created a webpage explaining who Jon Robert Shaps was and how he acquired this collection, and we urge you to view that page at
this link.
The page also has images of Mr. Shaps with 29 celebrities he photographed, and
also an image of an appraisal of these items done in 1991, after Mr. Shaps'
untimely passing. The phrase "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" is certainly
overused, but it seems to be very appropriate in the case of the auction of
these 57 items! Note that some of the items from this collection are at the
very start of the auction and some of the are spread throughout the auction,
but each of them are clearly identified as being from this wonderful
collection.
About the matted items contained in this
auction Contained in this special auction
are 30 items that had been framed. Because shipping a framed item is very
unsafe (due to the likelihood of the glass or Plexiglas shattering and ruining
the item), we asked those consignors to discard the frames and send us the
matted items. All of those 30 items are clearly noted, and they will be sent in
flat packages with the items attached to the mats. If the item is a standard
size, the new owner can easily purchase a frame and glass (or Plexiglas), and
if the item is a non-standard size, any framer can easily create a new frame to
that size, and one can quickly have the item displayed on their wall (and if
they want to remove the item from the mat, that can be done as well, and then
the item can be re-framed however the new owner wishes). But having the items
with the mats saves a considerable expense of framing.
HERE IS A CHART OF THE ITEMS IN THIS AUCTION:
(to better help you find the types of items that interest you)
NOTE: EVERY item in this auction has an
authentic signature on it which was hand signed onto that item by the
celebrity (approximately one half of the items are reproductions which the celebrities signed,
but those are clearly marked, and all items that are not marked "REPRODUCTION"
are original vintage items). THIS IS A REALLY REMARKABLE OFFERING, and if you have the
slightest interest in autographed items, then you won't want to miss this
auction!
ALSO NOTE: Due to the different types of packages the items in this
auction ship in, some items will ship in flat packages for $7, $11, or $15 to the
U.S. and some will be the "actual cost of shipping" even for those
in the U.S. We have noted in the below chart and on each individual item's
auction page how they will be shipped. We will be sure to combine items into a
single package whenever possible, but realize if you purchase multiple types
of U.S. shipping items, you will be charged the highest rate.

About the
condition We give a detailed overall condition grade ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good", and only a few which are less than "good to very good") along with more details about the condition described in words (where we thought additional details were needed, because the defects were hard to see). We felt this would help bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily. Of course, we could not describe every single defect, so we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the
still for minor defects that we did NOT describe.
About surface scuffs and creasing on
stills As anyone who looks at old photos knows, twenty to eighty year old photos are almost certain to pick up faint scuffs and creases in the surface emulsion of the photo. Vintage stills are the same way. But when these creases and scuffs are light, you can't see them when you look directly at the still from straight on, but you CAN see them when you tilt the still to the light. We don't consider this a major defect, because we don't know anyone who displays their stills tilted to the light. So if a still has minor scuffs and creases that are not very visible when it is viewed straight on, we still grade it as "very good or very good to fine" (or a higher grade). The only exception to this is if there are scuffs and creases throughout the entire still. Then we grade it as "lesser" (or a lower grade), even if the scuffs and creases are not visible when looked at straight on. We DO feel most collectors can accept minor surface scuffs and creases that can hardly be seen from straight on and are relatively minor. If you disagree, you probably should think long and hard before bidding on the stills that we grade as "lesser", or "very good or very good to fine" (but you still likely will be happy with the stills we grade as "fine or better", because we won't give a still those grades if there are scuffs in the surface emulsion that are at all visible when the still is viewed head-on).
Where are the many bulk lots and our usual "Sunday items"
regularly offered on Sunday?
We are taking a break from our regular Sunday
offerings of scripts, exhibitor magazines, movie magazines, German &
Austrian programs, soundtrack CDs, pressbooks, sheet music, and bulk lots while we offer signed items this week
(and a special collection of German & Austrian programs next week), but know that
we have a HUGE
number of items waiting to be auctioned in our "regular" Sunday auctions, so
please know that they will return in two weeks on Sunday January
29th,
and almost every week thereafter. |
U.S. Shipping Details
U.S. buyers need to enclose $7 or $11 or
$15 shipping (which includes full insurance) OR the actual cost of U.S. shipping
(it is noted on each item's auction page)!
Missouri
customers: You must pay an additional 7.162% sales tax on your
purchases. If your order is sent within the state of Missouri, we MUST
collect this tax (if it is shipped to another state, we do not collect the tax).
Will your order be
shipped to you by UPS?
UPS does NOT automatically require a signature
to deliver packages, so if you want the signature to be required, you will
need to pay the extra $3.00 UPS charges for "signature required" Delivery
Confirmation, and please realize that they will then NOT leave the
package, and you may well have to go to the UPS facility yourself to pick it
up. But if you prefer this, that is fine, and if you have any other
special requirements, please tell us when you are paying for your order.
IF YOU DO NOT SPECIFY THAT YOU WANT SIGNATURE REQUIRED, THEN YOUR PACKAGE
WILL BE SENT WITHOUT SIGNATURE REQUIRED!
You CAN usually combine shipment!

Note that we not only allow you to combine as many items as you want from a single
set of Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Sunday auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge for all of the items, but we also allow you to wait until
the next five sets of auctions end (a total of six sets of auctions) so that you can combine your current purchases with those of our following auctions
(if possible), and that means there
is a chance you could combine items from up to six of our sets of auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge (assuming those items fit into the same type of package). We KNOW there are other sellers who charge a little less on shipping than we do, but we know that our packaging is the best there is, and our orders virtually never arrive damaged (and on the very rare times that they do, all our U.S. packages are fully insured, and
FULL INSURANCE IS INCLUDED IN THE U.S. SHIPPING CHARGE).
DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS
UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE $7, $11, $15, or ACTUAL COST U.S. SHIPPING (depending on
which item(s) you purchase)!
