About the 201 "oversized" stills (most
11" x 14" and deluxe)
You surely know that we have auctioned many thousands
of 8" x 10" stills over the past few years. But in this set of
auctions, we offer 201 OVERSIZED stills (many are 11" x 14", but all
measure larger than 8" x 10"). THIS IS A REALLY SENSATIONAL
SELECTION OF OVERSIZED STILLS! Many are on double weight paper, many are
by name photographers like Hurrell, some have embossed photographer stamps,
and many have really wonderful images of top stars from many decades,
including lots from the 1930s! If you like oversized deluxe stills,
you are going to LOVE this group of auctions (and we wish we could
say that we would regularly auction stills like these, but they are truly
extremely rare, and we don't know when we will next be able to assemble a
similar auction).
About the 91 autographed stills
Note that in this set of auctions we have 91
autographed 8x10s that were consigned to us by a former theater owner. He
owned two different major theaters in Louisiana from the 1940s through the
1970s, and he sometimes had premieres of movies at his theaters, at which
time some of the celebrities connected to the movies would appear in person
(this was often done in the 1950s and 1960s). When celebrities came to his
theater, he would have them autograph 8x10 stills for him in person, and
that got him started collecting signed stills, so at some point in the
1950s, he began requesting the studios to have them send him stills signed
by the stars of movies he had recently shown at his theater when he was
holding a special event or having the anniversary of his theater's opening!
Over the next decade, he collected 91 signed stills that were sent to him by
the studios through the mail, as well as several dozen that he obtained in
person. We auctioned those "in person" signed stills in our previous
auctions, and now we are auctioning the 91 stills where he obtained the
signatures through the mail from the studios.
We know for certain that he received these stills
directly from the studios, but we can't say for certain if the stills were
signed by the stars or if they were signed by secretaries. But since he
owned a major theater, and since many of the stills were personalized to him
(or to his theater), we would think it likely that most, if not all, of
these 91 stills have genuine signatures that are NOT secretarial
signatures. But we suggest that anyone bidding on these stills compare their
signatures to other examples of that star's signature, so they can best
determine if the signature is from that star.
About the 40 Dixie ice cream premiums
Note
that in this set of auctions we have 40 Dixie ice cream premiums (a special
color 8" x 10" item that was given away as a premium from the Dixie Cup
company). The Dixie Cup company created a large number of such premiums,
which were given away to kids who sent in Dixie Cup lids. Each premium would
have a full-color image of the star on the front, and on the back was
biographical information of that star, along with black & white scenes from
some of their movies. Every Dixie Cup premium would have two punch holes in
one border, and kids would be sent two "covers" (one front and one back) to
create a "scrapbook" (the covers gave the instructions on how to make the
scrapbook by binding the Dixie Cup premiums between the two covers "with
color cord, shoe string, or ribbon". Note that these were first made in the
mid-1930s, and they continued all the way to the early 1950s (when the two
holes switched to the top of the premium).
About the 26 publicity stills from a burlesque theater
Note that in this set of auctions we have 26
publicity stills from strippers that were consigned from a man who owned a
burlesque club in Canada from the 1960s to the 1980s, and these were the
publicity photos that the strippers gave or sent in order to get jobs, and
he saved a group of these, which are being offered here.
About the
Austrian and German programs
Note that on January 6th of this year we auctioned a
mostly single owner collection of 551 German and Austrian programs, that
included many rare and wonderful titles, but now we have been consigned
(from a new consignor) 128 German and Austrian programs which include some
programs that are duplicates of ones we auctioned on January 6th, but which
also includes a large number of programs which we have never auctioned
before, including many rare and wonderful titles (especially super-rare
pre-World War II titles from both countries, and some scarce titles from
during World War II and from immediately after)! If you have the slightest
interest in these, be sure to look over all of the 128 programs we are
currently offering. We promise you won't be disappointed!
About the rest of this
week's items
Note that this is a "catch-all" week, where we auction
certain types of items that DO fit in our standard sized mailers, but are NOT
posters (this time it is heralds, programs, sheet music,
and some "special" items). We will occasionally auction items like these in
future catch all weeks, but they will NOT be the same exact types of items as the ones we are selling this
week (unless we get consigned more of these types, of course!). So if
you like any of the sizes and types of items we are auctioning this week,
know that we have not sold these types of items for quite some time, and we
likely will not sell them again for a long time!
One final
important note: While most of the items we are auctioning
this week are roughly 11" x 14" (either as they are, or when they are
fully folded), A FAIR NUMBER of the items (mostly some of the heralds
[but not all], and a small number of the remaining
items) are quite a bit smaller. We are
charging our standard $10 U.S. shipping this week, but if you solely
purchase those smaller items, then we will package the item(s) much
smaller, and we will only charge you the lower shipping rate (if you have
already paid the $10 U.S. shipping, we will automatically refund you the
difference between the actual lower cost and what you paid). This is
especially important if you live outside the U.S., because a smaller package
will cost far less. But of course, if you purchase smaller items along
with larger items then we will need to package them together in one of our
standard-size packages, and you will pay the $10 U.S. shipping (actual cost
elsewhere).
About the condition of the
items
Note that we give a detailed overall condition grade to every item we sell ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good",
and "good", with only a few graded "fair" or lesser) along with more details about the condition described in words (but pretty much
a general description of the defects, and we only describe specific defects if they are
the type that CAN'T be seen in our super-sized images, or if the item is especially valuable). We felt this would help bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily. Of course, we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe.
Of course, with the items that have many pages, we could not photograph
every single page, but we often photograph both covers and an interior
two-page spread, which should surely give you an excellent idea of the
overall condition of that item. |

U.S. orders with a flat rate shipping can quickly be completed via PayPal
in our
Checkout
system. At this time, PayPal is the only payment method supported by the
checkout but more payment methods and features will be added with time.
If your order requires a shipping quote and you have received your
quote, you may pay via PayPal manually to "mail@emovieposter.com",
but know that PayPal has many glitches, so you need to e-mail us separately
stating that you completed payment
Learn More.
Here are step-by-step instructions if you need help paying manually
with PayPal.
You can send a check or money order (if you do, enclose
your address and details about what you purchased) to:
Bruce Hershenson
Attn: Payments
P.O. Box 874
West Plains, MO 65775
If it is your best payment option, you
can pay by Western Union, but please don't send cash (as we can't
be responsible for lost cash).
If your order requires a
shipping quote, please request it through
our
Checkout system. Please note that we are still developing this
checkout system, so while you may request your quote using it, we do not
quite have it ready to complete payment (although we hope to have that added
soon), but payment may still be completed using whatever method you have
used in the past. If you run into any sort of problem requesting your
quotes, please e-mail
Phillip right away so we can get it addressed.

U.S. Shipping Details
U.S. buyers need to enclose $10 shipping (which includes full insurance)!
Missouri
customers: You must pay an additional 7.162% sales tax on your
purchases. If your order is sent within the state of Missouri, we MUST
collect this tax (if it is shipped to another state, we do not collect the tax).
Will your order be
shipped to you by UPS?
UPS does NOT automatically require a signature
to deliver packages, so if you want the signature to be required, you will
need to pay the extra $3.00 UPS charges for "signature required" Delivery
Confirmation, and please realize that they will then NOT leave the
package, and you may well have to go to the UPS facility yourself to pick it
up. But if you prefer this, that is fine, and if you have any other
special requirements, please tell us when you are paying for your order.
IF YOU DO NOT SPECIFY THAT YOU WANT SIGNATURE REQUIRED, THEN YOUR PACKAGE
WILL BE SENT WITHOUT SIGNATURE REQUIRED!
You CAN usually combine shipment!
NOTE: These Thursday items need to be sent in flat packages so...
*they
can be
combined with these auctions (note any
higher shipping rates below):
- Sunday March 13th "all signed" items Part
II ($6 or $10)
- Sunday March 20th 'regular' Sunday auctions ($6 or $10)
- Tuesday March 22nd folded one-sheets ($10)
- Thursday March 24th window cards, French, and Italian
($12 or $15)
- Tuesday March 29th folded non-U.S. posters & non-U.S.
lobbies ($10)
- Sunday April 3rd miscellaneous items ($10)
*they must be sent separately from
these auctions for an additional shipping charge:
- Tuesday March 8th half-sheets and Japanese B2s
- Thursday March 10th inserts, Belgians, and Italian
locandinas
- Tuesday March 15th rolled non-U.S. Part I
- Thursday March 17th rolled non-U.S. Part II
- Sunday March 20th or 27th Sunday bulk lots
|
Note that we not only allow you to combine as many items as you want from a single
set of Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Sunday auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge for all of the items, but we also allow you to wait until
the next five sets of auctions end (a total of six sets of auctions) so that you can combine your current purchases with those of our following auctions
(if possible), and that means there
is a chance you could combine items from up to six of our sets of auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge (assuming those items fit into the same type of package). We KNOW there are other sellers who charge a little less on shipping than we do, but we know that our packaging is the best there is, and our orders virtually never arrive damaged (and on the very rare times that they do, all our U.S. packages are fully insured, and
FULL INSURANCE IS INCLUDED IN THE U.S. SHIPPING CHARGE).
DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS
UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE $10 U.S. SHIPPING!

Non-U.S. Shipping Details
Non-U.S. buyers must pay the actual cost of shipping their order
(you can choose whatever method you prefer, but know that the U.S. Post
Office has eliminated Surface Mail, so we can only send via Express or
Airmail), plus $2 for the best packaging materials you have ever seen.
All non-U.S. buyers must tell us if they want the package sent insured or
uninsured at the time they pay for their order.
Have you heard about our Pay and Hold
Program?
This lets non-U.S. buyers pay for their purchases from 4 consecutive weeks
(a total of 12 auctions and around 8,000+ items!), and we then send all your
purchases at once saving you LOTS of money! Click
HERE to learn more (if you are not one of the hundreds of our
non-U.S. buyers who are already part of this program)
Here is a chart
containing estimated shipping charges for up to 3 items from this week's
auctions
(note these are ESTIMATES only, and your actual shipping may
vary considerably)
(Note: Insured quotes are based on a $200 value; you pay $1.60 more
for each additional $100 of insurance) |

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please bear these
approximate shipping cost in mind BEFORE you place a bid (if
you live outside the U.S.). The vast majority of our customers want a very
securely packed tube, and will pay the extra shipping cost involved (and of
course, it goes to the Post Office or UPS, and not us!). Please do not ask
us to pack less securely, as that would likely result in a damaged order.
Some sellers are sending by Ground UPS to Canada, but that incurs large
"brokerage fees", so we do not recommend it. Note that there are also
some sellers sending non-U.S. packages via a "Letter" rate, but of course
this is not legal, and we can not do this. We have outlined the
possibilities for sending non-U.S. packages above, so please read that
carefully, BEFORE placing a bid!
Do you have a friend or relative who lives in the
United States?
Some of our customers either
visit the U.S. regularly, or have friends or relatives within the U.S., and
often those customers have us send their orders to a U.S. address, and then
they transport the posters from there. THIS CAN SAVE YOU A GREAT DEAL ON
SHIPPING! This is fine with us, but realize that you still need to let
us know within one week of receipt if you want to return anything, so don't
use this method unless you are certain you will want to keep your purchases.
DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING (the
actual cost of shipping plus $2 outside the U.S.)!
