daybills from 1875 to 1921
9p013-9p030 miscellaneous movie and non-movie items
9p031-9p077 programs
9p078-9p095 trade ads

9p260-9p559 sheet musics
9p560-9p998 8" x 10" still lots (from 24 to 1 still per lot)
About the program books
Many collectors are not aware of program books, which were either given away to those
who bought a ticket, or more often, were sold as souvenirs in theater
lobbies. Program books are usually filled with images (sometimes
color) that are sometimes not seen anywhere else, and lots of them have much
written information about the movies.
Programs provide one of the absolute most affordable ways of getting an
original first release item from titles that otherwise sell for "out of this
world" prices! Note that all of these items we are auctioning this week come
from longtime collectors, and included
in those collections are some extremely rare titles, and many of the items are in really excellent condition (they were either never used, or
were used once and then carefully stored away). If you spent years and
years looking for these items, you probably would not be able to find all of
the ones offered in this single set of auctions!
About the 1,643 vintage stills in 439
lots Note that
we have in the past sold several large groups of multiple black & white and
color still lots, and the vast majority of those stills came to us from former theater owners
and covered a wide range of years. We sold all of those stills, and we
thought that that was the last time we would make such a great
offering of multiple stills.
But now, we have been consigned another excellent
collection of multiple black & white and color still lots, including
many of the best titles of the past 40 years, including a
large number of rare English Front of House "lobby cards" (which measure 8" x
10")! Looking over this amazing
new offering of over 1,600 stills is like entering a time machine and going back 30 or
more years, and entering a poster exchange, and giving them a list of titles on
which you want to buy stills,
and having them say, "oh yes, we have all of those"!
Best of all, all of the stills are being sold with no reserve
in an opening bid of just $1 (per lot, NOT per still!). This means
you could theoretically purchase a lot of 8, 12, or even more stills for just a
few cents
each
(and while we do not think that could happen, you may well see some of these
lots selling for just pennies per still, and probably a fair number of them will
sell for under one dollar per still, even though many of them are in pristine
condition!).
IMPORTANT! FOR THE LOTS THAT CONTAIN COLOR STILLS, MINI LCs,
GROUPS OF STILLS ON A SINGLE STAR, OR ENGLISH FRONT OF HOUSE LCs, WE PICTURE EVERY ONE OF THE STILLS IN THAT LOT. BUT FOR THE
LOTS THAT CONTAIN FIVE OR MORE BLACK AND WHITE STILLS FROM A SPECIFIC MOVIE, THEN, FOR THOSE LOTS ONLY, ONLY FOUR OF THE
STILLS ARE PICTURED! THE HIGH BIDDER ON
EACH BLACK & WHITE LOT THAT CONTAINS MORE THAN FOUR STILLS WILL RECEIVE THE NUMBER OF STILLS LISTED ON THE AUCTION, and NOT
just the four pictured! We realize there is an element of gambling to
this (because you are only seeing four images, and are not seeing the other
images), but we made next-to-no effort to find the best four stills in these lots, and, if you
have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great
stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on these lots which
don't picture all of the stills unless you can accept that you are only seeing
four of the total number of stills offered (each lot clearly states how many
stills are contained in it).
IMPORTANT! Some of the still lots from "newer"
(post-1960) movies, ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT HAVE 10 OR MORE STILLS IN THEM,
may contain a few duplicated stills. We only
picture four of the stills, so realize that on some of these post-1960 lots
with 10 or more stills there may be a few duplicates, SO PLEASE BEAR THIS IN
MIND BEFORE PLACING A BID ON THOSE LOTS (this does not apply to pre-1960
lots, or lots of just 5 to 9 stills, where we indicate on the auction if there
are any duplicated stills at all).
Note that we can't make an exception "just for you"
on these lots and find a specific lot and photograph or
describe the stills currently not pictured, BECAUSE WE
CANNOT DO THAT FOR ANYONE!
All of the still lots are completely sealed and ready for mailing. We could never sell
1,600+
stills in a single day without doing it the way we are doing, and we ask you to
be understanding of that, or to not bid on them.
IN THE PAST, WHEN WE HAVE SOLD GREAT STILL LOTS LIKE IN THIS
SET OF AUCTIONS, AFTER THE AUCTIONS CLOSED WE RECEIVED
LOTS OF E-MAILS FROM PEOPLE WHO
ARE SORRY THEY HAD NOT BID HIGHER ON ONE OR MORE OF THE LOTS. Please realize
that this auction contains all of this "theater owned" collection of stills!
THIS REALLY IS A REALLY WONDERFUL COLLECTION OF STILLS, AND I
WOULD THINK THAT STILL COLLECTORS (and dealers) WILL BE THINKING ABOUT THIS
AUCTION FOR SOMETIME TO COME (and kicking themselves over some of the lots that
they missed out on!).
About the originality of the stills WE GUARANTEE THAT EVERY STILL IN THIS AUCTION IS ORIGINAL (just like the ones we sold in
our earlier weeks of still auctions)! Why? Because these stills are from several remarkable collections, which were purchased by VERY knowledgeable collectors, who could tell original stills from repros, reissues, or restrikes and it only contains original stills, and YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT! We know you will agree these are surely original stills, but if you have the slightest doubt, you can return ANY still within one week for a no questions asked refund! I have sold many tens of thousands of stills, and I KNOW these to be genuine, and I also know this to be a remarkable collection of hand-picked stills!
About the rest of this
week's items
Note that this is a "catch-all" week, where we auction
certain types of items that DO fit in our standard sized mailers, but are NOT
posters (this time it is programs, sheet music,
and some "special" items). We will occasionally auction items like these in
future catch all weeks, but they will NOT be the same exact types of items as the ones we are selling this
week (unless we get consigned more of these types, of course!). So if
you like any of the sizes and types of items we are auctioning this week,
know that we have not sold these types of items for quite some time, and we
likely will not sell them again for a long time!
About the condition of the
items
Note that we give a detailed overall condition grade to every item we sell ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good",
and "good", with only a few graded "fair" or lesser) along with more details about the condition described in words (but pretty much
a general description of the defects, and we only describe specific defects if they are
the type that CAN'T be seen in our super-sized images, or if the item is especially valuable). We felt this would help bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily. Of course, we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe.
Of course, with the items that have many pages, we could not photograph
every single page, but we often photograph both covers and an interior
two-page spread, which should surely give you an excellent idea of the
overall condition of that item. |

U.S. Shipping Details
U.S. buyers need to enclose $10 shipping (which includes full insurance)!
Missouri
customers: You must pay an additional 7.162% sales tax on your
purchases. If your order is sent within the state of Missouri, we MUST
collect this tax (if it is shipped to another state, we do not collect the tax).
Will your order be
shipped to you by UPS?
UPS does NOT automatically require a signature
to deliver packages, so if you want the signature to be required, you will
need to pay the extra $3.00 UPS charges for "signature required" Delivery
Confirmation, and please realize that they will then NOT leave the
package, and you may well have to go to the UPS facility yourself to pick it
up. But if you prefer this, that is fine, and if you have any other
special requirements, please tell us when you are paying for your order.
IF YOU DO NOT SPECIFY THAT YOU WANT SIGNATURE REQUIRED, THEN YOUR PACKAGE
WILL BE SENT WITHOUT SIGNATURE REQUIRED!
You CAN usually combine shipment!
NOTE: These Thursday items need to be sent in flat packages so...
*they
can be
combined with these auctions:
- Tuesday February 8th single lobby cards
- Thursday February 10th complete and incomplete lobby
card sets
- Sunday February 13th 'regular' Sunday auctions
- Tuesday February 15th folded one-sheets
- Thursday February 17th lots of 8" x 10" stills
- Sunday February 20th 'regular' Sunday auctions
- Thursday February 24th single 8" x 10" stills
- Sunday February 27th 'regular' Sunday auctions
- Tuesday March 1st miscellaneous items
*they must be sent separately from
these auctions for an additional shipping charge:
- Sunday January 13th, 20th, or 27th 'bulk lot' Sunday auctions
- Tuesday February 22nd rolled non-U.S. posters
|
Note that we not only allow you to combine as many items as you want from a single
set of Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Sunday auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge for all of the items, but we also allow you to wait until
the next five sets of auctions end (a total of six sets of auctions) so that you can combine your current purchases with those of our following auctions
(if possible), and that means there
is a chance you could combine items from up to six of our sets of auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge (assuming those items fit into the same type of package). We KNOW there are other sellers who charge a little less on shipping than we do, but we know that our packaging is the best there is, and our orders virtually never arrive damaged (and on the very rare times that they do, all our U.S. packages are fully insured, and
FULL INSURANCE IS INCLUDED IN THE U.S. SHIPPING CHARGE).
DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS
UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE $10 U.S. SHIPPING!

Non-U.S. Shipping Details
Non-U.S. buyers must pay the actual cost of shipping their order
(you can choose whatever method you prefer, but know that the U.S. Post
Office has eliminated Surface Mail, so we can only send via Express or
Airmail), plus $2 for the best packaging materials you have ever seen.
All non-U.S. buyers must tell us if they want the package sent insured or
uninsured at the time they pay for their order.
Have you heard about our Pay and Hold
Program?
This lets non-U.S. buyers pay for their purchases from 4 consecutive weeks
(a total of 12 auctions and around 8,000+ items!), and we then send all your
purchases at once saving you LOTS of money! Click
HERE to learn more (if you are not one of the hundreds of our
non-U.S. buyers who are already part of this program)
Here is a chart
containing estimated shipping charges for up to 3 items from this week's
auctions
(note these are ESTIMATES only, and your actual shipping may
vary considerably)
(Note: Insured quotes are based on a $200 value; you pay $1.60 more
for each additional $100 of insurance) |

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please bear these
approximate shipping cost in mind BEFORE you place a bid (if
you live outside the U.S.). The vast majority of our customers want a very
securely packed tube, and will pay the extra shipping cost involved (and of
course, it goes to the Post Office or UPS, and not us!). Please do not ask
us to pack less securely, as that would likely result in a damaged order. Some sellers are sending by Ground UPS to Canada, but that incurs large
"brokerage fees", so we do not recommend it. Note that there are also
some sellers sending non-U.S. packages via a "Letter" rate, but of course
this is not legal, and we can not do this. We have outlined the
possibilities for sending non-U.S. packages above, so please read that
carefully, BEFORE placing a bid!
Do you have a friend or relative who lives in the
United States?
Some of our customers either
visit the U.S. regularly, or have friends or relatives within the U.S., and
often those customers have us send their orders to a U.S. address, and then
they transport the posters from there. THIS CAN SAVE YOU A GREAT DEAL ON
SHIPPING! This is fine with us, but realize that you still need to let
us know within one week of receipt if you want to return anything, so don't
use this method unless you are certain you will want to keep your purchases.
DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING (the
actual cost of shipping plus $2 outside the U.S.)!
