Special Notes About The Items in This Week's
Sunday Auctions
HERE IS A CHART OF THE ITEMS IN THIS AUCTION:
(to better help you find the types of items that interest you)
NOTE: EVERY item in this auction has an
authentic signature on it which was hand signed onto that item by the
celebrity (some of the items are reproductions which the celebrities signed,
but those are clearly marked, and the ones that are not marked "REPRODUCTION"
are original vintage items).
THIS IS A REALLY REMARKABLE OFFERING
(which primarily comes from three wonderful collections), and if you have the
slightest interest in autographed items, then you won't want to miss this
auction (and in addition to many movie autographs, there are quite a few from
celebrities in other fields, including politicians and boxers)!

Where are the many bulk lots
and our usual "Sunday items" regularly offered on Sunday?
We are taking a break from our regular Sunday
offerings of magazines, scripts, glass slides, German programs, and bulk lots
this week while we offer
349 personally autographed items this week, but know that we have a HUGE
number of items waiting to be auctioned in our "regular" Sunday auctions, so please know that
they will return on Sunday August 22nd, and almost every week thereafter.
How are these Sunday auctions different from our Tuesday and
Thursday auctions?
The short answer is that they are almost exactly like our Tuesday and
Thursday auctions, but with one important difference. This is that they do
NOT end at 7 PM CST like those other auctions do, but instead
they begin ending at 3 PM CST, which means that our European bidders will not
have to get up in the middle of the night to bid at the end of our auctions
(and of course, most of our American bidders will not be working on Sundays,
so they will have easy access to their computers as well).
About
the Autographed
Items We Are Offering Note that
201 of these autographed items come to us from
three different collectors.
1) The first collection was
consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer in the
1970s and 1980s. During that time, he was approached by a man named Sterling
H. Bond, who had collected autographs for many years, and who sold the
dealer his entire collection. Bond had tracked down many important Hollywood
celebrities and obtained autographed items (often personalized to him), and
he also had autographs from celebrities who were not in the film business
(including famous politicians!). The dealer was so impressed with this
collection that rather than sell it item by item, he began collecting
autographs himself, sending celebrities items by Registered Mail which they
then autographed and returned to him! Now, decades later, the dealer has
consigned these autographed items to us. So all of these 69 autographed
items we are auctioning were either obtained by long time collector Sterling
H. Bond, or were obtained by this memorabilia dealer, and we feel certain
that the autograph on this item is authentic! Note that each of those 69
items from this consignor have this paragraph on them.
2) The second collection was consigned to us by an
individual who owned a company that made movies and videos with famous
celebrities in the 1980s and 1990s. The owner of the company would have the
celebrities sign items from their famous films, and sometimes he would find
second or third celebrities to autograph an item he already had gotten
signed! In addition, he would ask celebrities he came in contact with if
they had signed items from other stars that they would sell to him, and he
purchased a number of items that way. He also would purchase unsigned items
from the famed Larry Edmunds Bookshop in Los Angeles (to have the
celebrities sign), and while he was doing that he would also purchase some
of their signed items. So all of these 76 autographed items we are
auctioning were either obtained in person, obtained from celebrities who
obtained them in person, or obtained from the Larry Edmunds Bookshop, and we
feel certain that the autograph(s) on this item is authentic! Note that each
of those 76 items from this consignor have this paragraph on them.
3) The third collection was consigned to us by a man who
worked in the movie business, and who attended many premieres and special
Hollywood events. When he would go to them, he would bring stills (usually
REPRODUCTIONS, but sometimes originals which we have clearly noted
above) of stars he knew would be in attendance, and get them autographed by
those stars when he would meet them in person at the event. So all of these
56 autographed items we are auctioning were obtained in person, and we feel
certain that the autograph on this item is authentic! Note that each of
those 56 items from this consignor have this paragraph on them.
Most of the remaining 148
autographed items were consigned to us by either collectors or dealers who
purchased them from reputable autograph sellers between 10 and 30 years ago,
and we believe those to surely be authentic autographs as well.
IN EVERY CASE, WE HAVE GIVEN
ALL OF THE INFORMATION WE KNOW ABOUT WHERE THE
AUTOGRAPH WAS OBTAINED IN THE AUCTION DESCRIPTION FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL ITEM.
A very few of the
items come with a "Certificate of Authenticity", but the vast majority do
not. Please read over each auction description carefully, so you will
know all we know about the provenance of that item.
We are auctioning approximately one half of the
autographed items from each of these collections in this auction, and we will list the remaining
one half of these items in a similar auction scheduled to begin October 17th.
All three of the main consignors described above have told me that they will
give anyone who purchases any of these a 30 day return privilege on any of
these autographed items, because they KNOW them to be genuine, and of
course, that gives every buyer plenty of time to be 100% certain that they
have purchased a genuine autograph!
Remember that most of these items are vintage, but that some are reproductions, and that we always clearly identify which is which.
But, IN EVERY CASE, every one of these items was personally signed
by the person listed! We know they make wonderful special gifts to those
friends or family who you know really like a specific celebrity! This
auction contain 349 personally
signed (autographed) items, with lots of top stars from all years
and genres!
About the
Condition We give a detailed overall condition grade ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good", and only a few which are less than "good to very good") along with more details about the condition described in words (where we thought additional details were needed, because the defects were hard to see). We felt this would help bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily. Of course, we could not describe every single defect, so we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the
still for minor defects that we did NOT describe.
About Surface Scuffs and Creasing on
Stills As anyone who looks at old photos knows, twenty to eighty year old photos are almost certain to pick up faint scuffs and creases in the surface emulsion of the photo. Vintage stills are the same way. But when these creases and scuffs are light, you can't see them when you look directly at the still from straight on, but you CAN see them when you tilt the still to the light. We don't consider this a major defect, because we don't know anyone who displays their stills tilted to the light. So if a still has minor scuffs and creases that are not very visible when it is viewed straight on, we still grade it as "very good or very good to fine" (or a higher grade). The only exception to this is if there are scuffs and creases throughout the entire still. Then we grade it as "lesser" (or a lower grade), even if the scuffs and creases are not visible when looked at straight on. We DO feel most collectors can accept minor surface scuffs and creases that can hardly be seen from straight on and are relatively minor. If you disagree, you probably should think long and hard before bidding on the stills that we grade as "lesser", or "very good or very good to fine" (but you still likely will be happy with the stills we grade as "fine or better", because we won't give a still those grades if there are scuffs in the surface emulsion that are at all visible when the still is viewed head-on). |
U.S. Shipping Details
U.S. buyers need to enclose $10 shipping (which includes full insurance)!
Missouri
customers: You must pay an additional 7.162% sales tax on your
purchases. If your order is sent within the state of Missouri, we MUST
collect this tax (if it is shipped to another state, we do not collect the tax).
NOTE THAT SOME OF THE ITEMS IN THIS AUCTION
MEASURE 8" x 10" OR SMALLER (mostly 8" x 10" stills and signed index
cards). IF YOU SOLELY PURCHASE ITEMS THAT ARE 8" x 10" OR SMALLER
THEN THE U.S. SHIPPING WILL BE $6 (if you pay us $10 for U.S. shipping,
then we will refund you the extra $4). If you purchase one or more
items that measure over 8" x 10", then the U.S. shipping will be $10.
Will your order be
shipped to you by UPS?
UPS does NOT automatically require a signature
to deliver packages, so if you want the signature to be required, you will
need to pay the extra $3.00 UPS charges for "signature required" Delivery
Confirmation, and please realize that they will then NOT leave the
package, and you may well have to go to the UPS facility yourself to pick it
up. But if you prefer this, that is fine, and if you have any other
special requirements, please tell us when you are paying for your order.
IF YOU DO NOT SPECIFY THAT YOU WANT SIGNATURE REQUIRED, THEN YOUR PACKAGE
WILL BE SENT WITHOUT SIGNATURE REQUIRED!
You CAN usually combine shipment!
NOTE: These Sunday
items need to be sent in flat packages so...
*they
can be
combined with these auctions:
- Sunday August 1st multiple stills
- Tuesday August 10th folded one-sheets
- Thursday August 12th multiple stills
- Sunday August 15th Sunday auctions
*they must be sent separately from
these auctions for an additional shipping charge:
- Sunday August 15th bulk lots
- Tuesday August 17th rolled non-U.S. posters
- Thursday August 19th rolled 27" x 40" one-sheets
*they may or may not be combined with
the items in any of the three parts of our Summer 2010 Mini/Major
Auction because those items need to be sent in different types of packages
which means that we can NOT tell you what your order can be
combined with until we know exactly what you purchase from any of the
three parts |
Note that we not only allow you to combine as many items as you want from a single
set of Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Sunday auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge for all of the items, but we also allow you to wait until
the next five sets of auctions end (a total of six sets of auctions) so that you can combine your current purchases with those of our following auctions
(if possible), and that means there
is a chance you could combine items from up to six of our sets of auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge (assuming those items fit into the same type of package). We KNOW there are other sellers who charge a little less on shipping than we do, but we know that our packaging is the best there is, and our orders virtually never arrive damaged (and on the very rare times that they do, all our U.S. packages are fully insured, and
FULL INSURANCE IS INCLUDED IN THE U.S. SHIPPING CHARGE).
DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS
UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE $10 U.S. SHIPPING!

Non-U.S. Shipping Details
Non-U.S. buyers must pay the actual cost of shipping their order
(you can choose whatever method you prefer, but know that the U.S. Post
Office has eliminated Surface Mail, so we can only send via Express or
Airmail), plus $2 for the best packaging materials you have ever seen.
All non-U.S. buyers must tell us if they want the package sent insured or
uninsured at the time they pay for their order.
Have you heard about our Pay and Hold
Program?
This lets non-U.S. buyers pay for their purchases from 4 consecutive weeks
(a total of 12 auctions and around 8,000+ items!), and we then send all your
purchases at once saving you LOTS of money! Click
HERE to learn more (if you are not one of the hundreds of our
non-U.S. buyers who are already part of this program)
Here is a chart
containing estimated shipping charges for up to 3 items from this week's
auctions
(note these are ESTIMATES only, and your actual shipping may
vary considerably)
(Note: Insured quotes are based on a $200 value; you pay $1.60 more
for each additional $100 of insurance) |

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please bear these
approximate shipping cost in mind BEFORE you place a bid (if
you live outside the U.S.). The vast majority of our customers want a very
securely packed tube, and will pay the extra shipping cost involved (and of
course, it goes to the Post Office or UPS, and not us!). Please do not ask
us to pack less securely, as that would likely result in a damaged order.
Some sellers are sending by Ground UPS to Canada, but that incurs large
"brokerage fees", so we do not recommend it. Note that there are also
some sellers sending non-U.S. packages via a "Letter" rate, but of course
this is not legal, and we can not do this. We have outlined the
possibilities for sending non-U.S. packages above, so please read that
carefully, BEFORE placing a bid!
Do you have a friend or relative who lives in the
United States?
Some of our customers either
visit the U.S. regularly, or have friends or relatives within the U.S., and
often those customers have us send their orders to a U.S. address, and then
they transport the posters from there. THIS CAN SAVE YOU A GREAT DEAL ON
SHIPPING! This is fine with us, but realize that you still need to let
us know within one week of receipt if you want to return anything, so don't
use this method unless you are certain you will want to keep your purchases.
DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING (the
actual cost of shipping plus $2 outside the U.S.)!
