Special Notes About The Items in This Week's Sunday Auctions
Why do the current Sunday auctions have
signed stills, but no glass slides, programs, magazines, or presskits?
Because every fourth Sunday auction we will be
auctioning different types of items, like the signed stills we are
auctioning this
Sunday. If you are looking for the glass slides, programs, magazines, or
presskits, know that they will return for the next three Sundays!
How are these Sunday auctions different from our Tuesday and
Thursday auctions?
The short answer is that they are almost exactly like our Tuesday and
Thursday auctions, but with one important difference. This is that they do
NOT end at 7 PM CST like those other auctions do, but instead
they begin ending at 3 PM CST, which means that our European bidders will not
have to get up in the middle of the night to bid at the end of our auctions
(and of course, most of our American bidders will not be working on Sundays,
so they will have easy access to their computers as well).
About
the Autographed Stills
and Repros We Are Offering Note that these stills come to us from
two different collectors. The first of them (which is roughly half of
the stills in this auction) is the man who consigned us the signed
one-sheets we sold over the past few months. He worked in the film
industry, and he attended many premieres and special events, and when he
went, he would bring stills or posters of stars he knew would be attending,
and then he would ask them to sign them! If he did not have original
stills or posters (which was often the case) he would bring high quality
color 8" x 10" repros, and ask the stars to sign those. In many cases,
he made a note of what event the item was signed at and when it was signed,
and when we know that information, we have added that to the auction.
We are 100% certain these autographs are genuine!
The other half of the auction comes to us from a man
who was a major movie paper dealer in the 1960s to 1980s. In the
1970s, he purchased a collection of autographed stills from a man who worked
in the industry and who had asked stars to sign items for him. In most
cases, he acquired original vintage stills from one of the star's better
movies, and in those cases, the still is from, say, the 1930s, but the star
signed it for this man in the 1960s or 1970s. In other cases, he
purchased a repro still and the star signed it for him in the 1960s or
1970s. After the dealer acquired this collection, he caught the "bug"
of collecting signed stills, and he began finding stars to sign stills to
him, and he added those to this collection. We are 100% certain that
the stills the dealer purchased and the ones he acquired himself are
genuine!
We are auctioning approximately one third of the stills
from each of these collections in this auction, and if the results are
acceptable to the consignors, we will list the remaining two thirds in two
later auctions. Both of the consignors have told me that they will
give anyone who purchases any of these a 30 day return privilege on any of
the stills, because they KNOW them to be genuine, and of course, that
gives every buyer plenty of time to be 100% certain that they have purchased
a genuine autograph.
Remember that some of these stills are vintage, and
some are reproductions, and that we always clearly identify which is which.
But, IN EVERY CASE, every one of these stills was personally signed
by the star listed! We know they make wonderful special gifts to those
friends or family who you know really like a specific star! This
auction contain 200 personally
signed (autographed) 8" x 10" stills, with lots of top stars from all years
and genres!
About the
Condition We give a detailed overall condition grade ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good", and only a few which are less than "good to very good") along with more details about the condition described in words (where we thought additional details were needed, because the defects were hard to see). We felt this would help bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily. Of course, we could not describe every single defect, so we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the
still for minor defects that we did NOT describe.
About Surface Scuffs and Creasing As anyone who looks at old photos knows, twenty to eighty year old photos are almost certain to pick up faint scuffs and creases in the surface emulsion of the photo. Vintage stills are the same way. But when these creases and scuffs are light, you can't see them when you look directly at the still from straight on, but you CAN see them when you tilt the still to the light. We don't consider this a major defect, because we don't know anyone who displays their stills tilted to the light. So if a still has minor scuffs and creases that are not very visible when it is viewed straight on, we still grade it as "very good or very good to fine" (or a higher grade). The only exception to this is if there are scuffs and creases throughout the entire still. Then we grade it as "lesser" (or a lower grade), even if the scuffs and creases are not visible when looked at straight on. We DO feel most collectors can accept minor surface scuffs and creases that can hardly be seen from straight on and are relatively minor. If you disagree, you probably should think long and hard before bidding on the stills that we grade as "lesser", or "very good or very good to fine" (but you still likely will be happy with the stills we grade as "fine or better", because we won't give a still those grades if there are scuffs in the surface emulsion that are at all visible when the still is viewed head-on). |
U.S. Shipping Details
U.S. customers pay only $5 for shipping ANY quantity of
stills!
Because these stills can be sent in smaller
packages than posters or lobby cards, we charge just $5 U.S. shipping for
any purchases of solely stills. But if you purchase other items from
other sets of auctions, and you want us to add the stills to those, then you
will have to pay the higher regular U.S. shipping. Also note that we
don't give any bonus items with these stills, so that they can still be sent
in a small package for the $5 U.S. shipping rate. Finally, note that we fully insure all U.S. orders, and we lose money on the shipping of
most orders of multiple stills (even if you buy 20 or 50 of these, you will
only pay $5 U.S. shipping for ALL of them!), but this way we reward those who buy many
items.
IMPORTANT
NOTE ABOUT THE SHIPPING OF THE BULK LOTS WE ARE SELLING
Note
that we have our usual standard shipping on all of the "regular" Sunday
items, but the bulk lots have stated shipping that is far higher (because
they are so heavy and/or bulky). You can combine as many of the regular
items as you want and pay a single shipping charge, but the bulk lots can
NOT be combined with the other items, because they are completely
packaged by themselves.
Will your order be
shipped to you by UPS?
UPS does NOT automatically require a signature
to deliver packages, so if you want the signature to be required, you will
need to pay the extra $2.50 UPS charges for "signature required" Delivery
Confirmation, and please realize that they will then NOT leave the
package, and you may well have to go to the UPS facility yourself to pick it
up. But if you prefer this, that is fine, and if you have any other
special requirements, please tell us when you are paying for your order.
IF YOU DO NOT SPECIFY THAT YOU WANT SIGNATURE REQUIRED, THEN YOUR PACKAGE
WILL BE SENT WITHOUT SIGNATURE REQUIRED!
You CAN usually combine shipment!
(NOTE: These Sunday items [except
for the bulk lots] must
be sent in flat packages and CAN be combined with the Sunday items we
auctioned on 9/6, and CAN be combined with the
lobby cards and stills we auctioned on 9/8 & 9/10, and CAN be combined with
the folded one-sheets we're auctioning on 9/15 & 9/17 [but remember that,
except for the stills we auctioned on 9/10 which are also $5 shipping, you
would have to pay the higher $9 U.S. shipping charge])
Note that we not only allow you to combine as many items as you want from a single
set of EITHER Tuesday or Thursday auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge for all of the items, but we also allow you to wait until
the next three sets of auctions end (a total of four sets of auctions) so that you can combine your current purchases with those of our following auctions
(if possible), and that means there
is a chance you could combine items from up to four of our sets of auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge (assuming those items fit into the same type of package). We KNOW there are other sellers who charge a little less on shipping than we do, but we know that our packaging is the best there is, and our orders virtually never arrive damaged (and on the very rare times that they do, all our U.S. packages are fully insured, and
FULL INSURANCE IS INCLUDED IN THE U.S. SHIPPING CHARGE).
DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS
UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE $5 U.S. SHIPPING!

Non-U.S. Shipping Details
Non-U.S. buyers must pay the actual cost of shipping their order (you can choose whatever method you prefer), plus $2 for packaging materials. All non-U.S. buyers must tell us if they want the package sent insured or uninsured at the time they pay for their order.
For Canada or Mexico, we estimate the "actual
cost of shipping" to be approximately $12 for up to 20 stills.
For everywhere else in the world, we estimate
the "actual cost of shipping" to be approximately $14 for up to 20 stills.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE SHIPPING OF THE BULK LOTS WE ARE
SELLING
Note that, as usual, we allow you to combine all
of the "regular" Sunday items, but the bulk lots can't be combined, and
MUST be sent by themselves. Also note that the shipping charge for
any of the bulk lots outside of the U.S. will be the actual cost of
shipping, and, of course, overseas shipping is almost always much more than
U.S. shipping, so PLEASE ONLY BID ON ANY OF THE
BULK LOTS IF YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY THE SUBSTANTIAL ACTUAL COST OF NON-U.S.
SHIPPING!
Do you have a friend or relative who lives in the
United States?
Some of our customers either visit the U.S. regularly, or have friends or
relatives within the U.S., and often those customers have us send their orders
to a U.S. address, and then they transport the posters from there. THIS CAN
SAVE YOU A GREAT DEAL ON SHIPPING! This is fine with us, but realize that
you still need to let us know within one week of receipt if you want to return
anything, so don't use this method unless you are certain you will want to keep
your purchases.
DON'T BID ON
OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING (the actual cost of shipping plus $2 outside the U.S.)!
