Special Notes About This Tuesday's Items

About This Special Collection of 488 British Quads
Note that the 488 British quads we are currently auctioning come from a single collection (we are also auctioning 377 quads from a variety of consignors in our next set of Thursday auctions, which close on 5/7). What is so remarkable about the collection we are currently offering is that it contains a very large number of posters from before 1960 (23 are from the 1940s, 228 are from the 1950s, 120 are from the 1960s, and 116 are from the 1970s to present).
Likely because of paper drives and a massive paper shortage, original British posters from World War II and earlier are incredibly rare.  Posters from 1946 to 1959 are only a little less rare, and while there are some of these in collectors' hands, very few are offered for sale or auction!  Many of the quads offered in this auction are ones that we have never seen before, and it will likely be many years before some of them are offered again!
Also, it should be noted that the more commonly seen "British one-sheets" are actually believed to be "export posters", created by English poster companies for use when their movies were shown in countries OTHER THAN Great Britain (and they are most commonly found in Canada and Australia, and many were found in European poster archives).  BUT VERY FEW BRITISH QUAD POSTERS WERE EVER EXPORTED TO OTHER COUNTRIES, AND IT APPEARS THAT VERY FEW WERE SAVED WITHIN GREAT BRITAIN! This is really an extremely rare opportunity to purchase British quads, and it is unlikely a similar offering will be seen anytime soon!

About Those British quads in This Collection Which Were Once Folded
Note that some of the British quads in this collection were NEVER folded, and some were folded (almost all "older" British quads were folded before they were distributed to theaters).  Unlike U.S. one-sheets, which were almost all folded in the exact same way, some British quads were folded vertically three times and horizontally once, but others were folded vertically three times and horizontally three times (folded one time more).
However, all of the quads in this collection were stored unfolded, which has diminished how noticeable the foldlines are.  UNLESS WE ARE TOLD OTHERWISE BY THE NEW OWNER, WE INTEND TO SEND ALL OF THESE QUADS ROLLED IN TUBES.  However, if a person solely purchases one of the previously folded quads, we WILL re-fold it and send it in a flat package if the person specifically requests it (this will lower the shipping when it is one of the quads that was folded an extra time, because it will fit in a small flat package, but it will likely not lower the shipping when it is one of the quads that was folded in the regular way).  Of course, if you purchase both quads that were once folded and quads that were never folded, then it will make far more sense to send them all together in a single tube.

About the Condition
Note that we give a detailed overall condition grade to every item we sell ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good", "good", and "fair", with only a few graded "poor") along with more details about the condition described in words (but pretty much only if they are defects that CAN'T be seen in our super-sized images, or if the item is especially valuable).  We felt this would help bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily.  Of course, we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe.

If a poster is in less than very good condition, should you not bid on it? Of course not, as long as you are accepting of the defects the poster has! The item that is graded "very good", but has as many minor defects as is allowed under the "very good" definition is only in SLIGHTLY better condition than the best of the "good to very good" items. So please take the time to look at the larger images of items that interest you, and see if the defects are the sort that you can "live with", or are willing to restore. Some of these items are EXTREMELY rare, and it may be years before you see them offered again!

Payment Options
We accept all major credit cards, either directly over the phone at 417-256-9616 during our regular business hours which are Monday to Friday, 9 AM CST to 5 PM CST except between 12 and 1 when we take lunch, or you can e-mail us payment details, and there are still a few people who fax us!

If you like to pay via Paypal
(our PayPal e-mail is "mail@emovieposter.com"), that is fine, but know that PayPal has many glitches, and you should ABSOLUTELY e-mail us separately when you send us a PayPal payment!

You can send a check or money order (if you do, enclose your address and details about what you purchased) to:
Bruce Hershenson
Attn: Payments
P.O. Box 874
West Plains, MO 65775

If it is your best payment option, you can pay by Western Union (unlike SOME auction sites, we are not prejudiced against Western Union!). But please don't send cash (as we can't be responsible for lost cash)!

U.S. Shipping Details

U.S. buyers need to enclose $9 shipping (which includes full insurance)!

Why do we charge $9, when we used to charge $9 to $11 on eBay?
We spend $9 (or more) on almost all U.S. orders, because we use such good, heavy packaging (at least twice as strong as that used by most sellers), even on low priced orders (because we believe a low priced item still deserves the best handling)!
We USED to charge $11 for shipping on U.S. orders over $100 when we sold on eBay, but now that we are auctioning on our own site we have lowered that to $9, which is both our way of thanking those who order a lot from us, and also our way of passing on our savings from not paying eBay commissions to our customers!

Will your order be shipped to you by UPS?
UPS does NOT automatically require a signature to deliver packages, so if you want the signature to be required, you will need to pay the extra $2.50 UPS charges for "signature required" Delivery Confirmation, and please realize that they will then NOT leave the package, and you may well have to go to the UPS facility yourself to pick it up.  But if you prefer this, that is fine, and if you have any other special requirements, please tell us when you are paying for your order.  IF YOU DO NOT SPECIFY THAT YOU WANT SIGNATURE REQUIRED, THEN YOUR PACKAGE WILL BE SENT WITHOUT SIGNATURE REQUIRED!

You CAN usually combine shipment!
(NOTE: These Tuesday items must be sent rolled in tubes and can NOT be combined with the folded one-sheets we are auctioning 4/28 and 4/30 [unless the buyer specifically requests that we do so], but CAN be combined with the British quads and 30x40s we are auctioning 4/30 to 5/7, and can NOT be combined with the 'oversized' flat items we'll be auctioning 5/5 to 5/14)
Note that we not only allow you to combine as many items as you want from a single set of EITHER Tuesday or Thursday auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge for all of the items, but we also allow you to wait until the next three sets of auctions end (a total of four sets of auctions) so that you can combine your current purchases with those of our following auctions (if possible), and that means there is a chance you could combine items from up to four of our sets of auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge (assuming those items fit into the same type of package). We KNOW there are other sellers who charge a little less on shipping than we do, but we know that our packaging is the best there is, and our orders virtually never arrive damaged (and on the very rare times that they do, all our U.S. packages are fully insured, and FULL INSURANCE IS INCLUDED IN THE $5 U.S. SHIPPING CHARGE).

DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE $9 U.S. SHIPPING!

Non-U.S. Shipping Details

Non-U.S. buyers must pay the actual cost of shipping their order (you can choose whatever method you prefer, but know that the U.S. Post Office has eliminated Surface Mail, so we can only send via Express or Airmail), plus $2 for the best packaging materials you have ever seen.  All non-U.S. buyers must tell us if they want the package sent insured or uninsured at the time they pay for their order.

Here is a chart containing estimated shipping charges for up to 3 items from this week's auctions
(Note: Insured quotes are based on a $200 value; you pay $1.60 more for each additional $100 of insurance)

Type of Shipping Canada/Mexico Australian/Asia/Japan Everywhere Else (inc Europe)
Airmail - Uninsured $26.25 / $32.25 $39.75 $38.75
Airmail - Insured $28.85 / N/A $42.35 $42.35
Global Express - Insured $44.40 / $45.45 $45.05 $45.05
Global Express - Uninsured $42.50 / $42.75 $46.25 $47.75
First Class N/A N/A N/A

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please bear this shipping cost in mind BEFORE your place a bid (if you live outside the U.S.). The vast majority of our customers want a very securely packed tube, and will pay the extra shipping cost involved (and of course, it goes to the Post Office or UPS, and not us!). Please do not ask us to pack less securely, as that would likely result in a damaged order.
Some sellers are sending by Ground UPS to Canada, but that incurs large "brokerage fees", so we do not recommend it.  Note that there are also some sellers sending non-U.S. packages via a "Letter" rate, but of course this is not legal, and we can not do this.  We have outlined the possibilities for sending non-U.S. packages above, so please read that carefully, BEFORE placing a bid!

Do you have a friend or relative who lives in the United States? Some of our customers either visit the U.S. regularly, or have friends or relatives within the U.S., and often those customers have us send their orders to a U.S. address, and then they transport the posters from there. THIS CAN SAVE YOU A GREAT DEAL ON SHIPPING! This is fine with us, but realize that you still need to let us know within one week of receipt if you want to return anything, so don't use this method unless you are certain you will want to keep your purchases.

DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING (the actual cost of shipping plus $2 outside the U.S.)!

You Can Add More to Your Order
In addition to our current auctions, we offer many other non-auction items. Please note that the items in this week's auction will mostly be sent rolled in tubes, so you can add any item that can easily be rolled for no additional shipping costs. We have noted in each paragraph below whether the items can be shipped rolled or not.

Illustration Magazines (can be shipped flat only)

Know that we also sell several other movie poster-related publications, so now is a good time to pick up items you may have missed! We have copies of a great full-color magazine entirely devoted to the great legendary poster artist, Bob Peak! This magazine (called Illustration Magazine #6) has tons of full-color images, all shot directly from Peak's originals, and has a great in-depth overview of Peak's entire career, written by his son! It sells for $9 and it is almost completely sold out, but if you want a copy, just enclose $9 with your order! We also have copies of Illustration Magazine #7, which has a long article on master horror/sci-fi illustrator Reynold Brown, with many full-color images shot directly from his originals, and that issue is also just $9.

Movie Collectors World (can be shipped rolled or flat)

We also offer the latest issue of Movie Collectors World to all our buyers (the latest is the May issue). If you want a copy of the May issue added to your order for $3.00 (with NO additional shipping), just let us know when you pay for your order and we will include it!

Fixed Price Posters (most can be shipped rolled but not all can be sent flat; if an item has a "UF" or "TF" in the description, it can only be shipped rolled, but if it has a "FF" in the description, it can likely be sent rolled or flat; please check with us if you are unsure)

WE CURRENTLY HAVE 422 MOVIE POSTERS ON OUR WEBSITE AS "FIXED PRICE" ITEMS!
