Our 9th Annual Halloween Auction is our largest
offering of horror, science fiction, and fantasy posters ever (roughly 2,000 items in all,
and it really is our best Halloween auction to date, in terms of both quantity
AND quality)!
This special auction is being run in three (or
four!) separate
parts:
-
Part I runs from Tuesday
10/21 to Tuesday 10/28 and includes 640 folded one-sheets and 334 lobby
cards (1 to 8 cards per title!)
- Part II will run from Thursday 10/23 to Thursday
10/30 and will include rolled one-sheets, inserts, half-sheets, many
Japanese B2 posters, and many other posters from lots of different
countries!
- Part III will run from Tuesday 10/28 to Tuesday
11/4 and will include just about everything that did not fit in the
above two parts, including linenbacked posters, window cards, three-sheets,
six-sheets, and more!
- We aren't sure if there will be a Part IV, but
if there is, it will run from Thursday 10/30 to Thursday 11/6 and it
will include any items that we did not have time to finish listing in time
to be in Part III!
What distinguishes OUR
annual Halloween auction from
other major auctions? Only the lack of any reserves or buyers premiums!
You will find a truly amazing selection of items from all years, sizes, and
countries!
Start browsing and bidding in Part I of our 9th
Halloween auction in our
Tuesday Auction Gallery
(the galleries for Part II, III, and IV will be added 10/23, 10/28, and 10/30,
respectively)! PREPARE TO BE DAZZLED!
INCREDIBLE!
Every buyer from ANY part of our "Halloween" auctions receives a
great super high quality full-color printed t-shirt as a free bonus (even if you only purchase one
item)! We are giving
every buyer in ANY part of these special auctions the great full-color T-shirt pictured at right,
which shows the image from the one-sheet for Invasion of the Saucer-Men (we
will only be making as many t-shirts as there are different buyers in these auctions, so
it will be a VERY limited edition, and likely will become a
"collector's item" in its own right!). Given that you get this great full-color T-shirt with
any purchase, shouldn't you absolutely find
any one item to purchase from us from among the roughly 2,000 items in these
special auctions?
*Note: we give this shirt (which costs
us $9 to $11 each at wholesale, because they are very high quality) to anyone
who purchases one or more items in any part of our Halloween auctions.
BUT KNOW THAT YOU ONLY GET ONE SHIRT, NO MATTER HOW MANY ITEMS
YOU PURCHASE, AND WHETHER OR NOT YOU PURCHASE FROM ONE OR MORE OF THE PARTS OF
THIS SPECIAL AUCTION.
SUPER IMPORTANT!
Normally, you can pay for your purchases by simply adding the total amount you
spent, and then adding $9 for U.S. shipping (many of our customers simply e-mail
to "put this purchase on my card on file"). BUT IN THIS ONE CASE ONLY
(because of the bonus t-shirt), YOU NEED TO ALSO TELL US YOUR SHIRT SIZE!
We can't send your order unless you inform us of what size shirt you want!

Special Notes About This Tuesday's Items About the Condition
of the Lobby Cards
Note that we have many excellent condition, unrestored lobby cards this
week! Most of these come to us from a couple of very long time collectors
who were "condition conscious", and who tried to buy unrestored lobby cards
whenever possible! 58% of the cards in
this auction are completely unrestored, and approximately 36% of the cards
in this auction are both "high grade" (either "fine" or "very good to fine",
and OUR high grade cards are graded very strictly!), and also completely
unrestored!
Note that we give a detailed overall condition grade to every item we sell ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good",
and "good", with only a few graded "fair") along with more details about the condition described in words (but pretty much only if they are defects that CAN'T be seen in our super-sized images, or if the item is especially valuable). We felt this would help bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily. Of course, we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the
item for minor defects that we did NOT
describe.
Please remember that our grading system is FAR more harsh than any other dealer we know of! We feel certain that our "very good to fine" condition grade compares favorably to most dealers' "near mint" grade and our "fine" condition grade compares favorably to most dealers' "mint" grade!
We did not describe most of the tiny defects these cards have in words, so we strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see whatever tiny defects any of these cards may have.
IMPORTANT! There are constant rumors that "slabbing" of lobby cards is "just around the corner". Slabbing is encasing items in a hard plastic sleeve with a seal that can't be broken, and then the items are professionally graded. ANY restoration of any kind, as well as a detailed condition description is noted on the back of the sleeve. Proponents of slabbing say that it takes all the guesswork out of grading items, and it brings lots of new collectors into a hobby, who are no longer afraid of buying an over-graded item, or one with hidden restoration. It is indisputable that slabbing attracts a lot of "investors" into a hobby, and almost always slabbing of items is followed by a sharp rise in the price of "high grade" UNRESTORED items. If the people who currently "slab" other collectibles begin to do so with lobby cards, then it is very likely prices will rise on them as well.
The above is why we clearly identify which lobby cards are completely
unrestored (and in this context, "unrestored" means no restoration of any
kind, including tape, on either the front or the back of the card).
About the Condition of the Folded One-Sheets
Note that we give a detailed overall condition grade to every item we sell ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good", "good", and "fair", with only a few graded "poor") along with more details about the condition described in words (but pretty much only if they are defects that CAN'T be seen in our super-sized images, or if the item is especially valuable).
Note that we try to always note ANY tape on the back, although we
might sometimes miss a tiny piece, but if there is any significant tape on
the back of the poster, it will absolutely be mentioned in the condition
description. We feel that doing this helps bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily. Of course, we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe.
If an item is in less than very good condition, should you not bid on it? Of course not, as long as you are accepting of the defects the poster has! The item that is graded "very good", but has as many minor defects as is allowed under the "very good" definition is only in SLIGHTLY better condition than the best of the "good to very good" items. So please take the time to look at the larger images of items that interest you, and see if the defects are the sort that you can "live with", or are willing to restore. Some of these items are EXTREMELY rare, and it may be years before you see them offered again! |

U.S. Shipping
Details
U.S. buyers need to enclose $9 shipping (which includes full insurance)!
SUPER IMPORTANT!
Normally, you can pay for your purchases by simply adding the total amount
you spent, and then adding $9 for U.S. shipping (many of our customers
simply e-mail to "put this purchase on my card on file"). BUT IN THIS
ONE CASE ONLY (because of the bonus t-shirt), YOU NEED TO ALSO TELL US YOUR
SHIRT SIZE! We can't send your order unless you inform us of what size
shirt you want!
Why do we charge $9, when we used to charge $9 to $11 on eBay? We spend $9
(or more) on almost all U.S. orders, because we use such good, heavy
packaging (at least twice as strong as that used by most sellers), even on
low priced orders (because we believe a low priced item still deserves the
best handling)!
We USED to charge $11 for shipping on U.S.
orders over $100 when we sold on eBay, but now that we are auctioning on our
own site we have lowered that to $9, which is both our way of thanking those
who order a lot from us, and also our way of passing on our savings from not
paying eBay commissions to our customers!
You CAN usually combine shipment!
(NOTE: This week's Tuesday items must be sent
in flat packages and CAN be combined
with the miscellaneous items we sold on 10/21 and CAN be combined with the still lots we
are auctioning 10/23, but can NOT be combined with the items in
Halloween Part II that we will be auctioning between 10/23 and 10/30,
because we think it is a great mistake to unfold a folded one-sheet and roll
it in a tube, due to the chance of damage)
Note that we not only allow you to combine as many items as you want from a single week, and still pay only a single shipping charge for all of the items, but we also allow you to wait until
next week's auctions end so that you can combine your current purchases with those of our following auctions
(if possible), and since we do two sets of auctions every week, that means there
is a chance you could combine items from up to four of our sets of auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge (assuming those items fit into the same type of package). We KNOW there are other sellers who charge a little less on shipping than we do, but we know that our packaging is the best there is, and our orders virtually never arrive damaged (and on the very rare times that they do, all our U.S. packages are fully insured, and FULL INSURANCE IS INCLUDED IN THE $9 U.S. SHIPPING CHARGE).
DON'T BID ON
OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE $9 U.S. SHIPPING!
|
Non-U.S.
Shipping Details Non-U.S. buyers must pay the actual cost of shipping their order (you can choose whatever method you prefer, but know that the U.S. Post Office has eliminated Surface Mail, so we can only send via
Express or Airmail), plus $2 for the best packaging materials you have ever seen. All non-U.S. buyers must tell us if they want the package sent insured or uninsured at the time they pay for their order.
Note that we will assume that all non-U.S. buyers
want the great bonus t-shirt, unless they
specifically tell us they do not want it!
Here is a chart
containing estimated shipping charges for up to 3 items from this
week's auctions
(Note: Insured quotes are based on a $200 value; you pay
$1.60 more for each additional $100 of insurance) |

Do you have a friend or relative who lives in the
United States?
Some of our customers either visit the U.S. regularly, or have friends or
relatives within the U.S., and often those customers have us send their orders
to a U.S. address, and then they transport the posters from there. THIS CAN
SAVE YOU A GREAT DEAL ON SHIPPING! This is fine with us, but realize that
you still need to let us know within one week of receipt if you want to return
anything, so don't use this method unless you are certain you will want to keep
your purchases.
DON'T BID ON
OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING (the actual cost of shipping plus $2 outside the U.S.)!

You Can
Add More to Your
Order
In addition to our current auctions, we offer
many other non-auction items. Please note that the items in this week's
auction will mostly be sent rolled in tubes, so you can add any item that
can easily be rolled for no additional shipping costs. We have noted in each
paragraph below whether the items can be shipped rolled or not.

full-color images, all shot directly from Peak's originals, and has a great

and it is almost completely sold out, but if you want a copy, just enclose $9
with your order! We also have copies of Illustration Magazine #7, which

$9. |

please
check with us if you are unsure)
