Date Sold 10/25/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Java Head, the 1923 George Melford silent interracial romance romantic love triangle melodrama ("Adapted by Waldemar Young from the novel by Joseph Hergesheimer"; the sort of movie they don't make anymore, with good reason; an American man in Java is forced to marry a princess to keep him from being killed, and he takes her back to New England, and he tries to be faithful to her, but he really loves his American girlfriend, and his Asian wife commits suicide so he can be with his true love) starring Leatrice Joy, Jacqueline Logan, Raymond Hatton, George Fawcett, and Albert Roscoe. Note that Paramount was unwilling to cast a real Asian woman in the lead role, so they hired Leatrice Joy, who had been born in Louisiana, and who in no way appeared Asian! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good.
