Original Vintage Theatrical Cloth Banner Movie Poster (measures 36" x 120") (Learn More) The Phantom of the West, the 1930 D. Ross Lederman cowboy western serial ("An All-Talking Serial in 10 Thrilling Chapters"; written by Ford Beebe) starring Tom Tyler, ("with a great supporting cast including") William Desmond, Tom Santschi, Dorothy Gulliver, Joe Bonomo (famous strong man who vied with Charles Atlas for the "Most Perfect Man", he appeared in 32 movies, but like Atlas, his primary business was selling books and pamphlets telling how to acquire a body like his!), Tom Dugan, "and others" NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good to fine. I have owned perhaps twenty of these cloth banners over the years (from twenty different movies of course!), and the one offered here is in as nice condition as any of those others, and better than most. The cloth material these banners were printed on often deteriorates badly over many years, and, when folded, often separates along the folds. The banner offered here has some small areas of staining around the edges of the banner (and some areas where the cloth is weakened), but those areas are almost exclusively in the borders. The only detraction to the banner is the many creases and some discoloration along some of the folds, as is typical of all these banners. Overall, I would say the banner has survived in about as good condition as one could hope given its age and its size! Note that this banner (like almost all similar cloth banners) had metal grommets put in each corner. This was done when the banner was made, and it allowed theaters to easily hang the banner from nails or hooks without hurting the banner. But it should be noted that the corners of the poster were folded over prior to the grommets being inserted (probably because the grommets held better with two thicknesses of banner), but this means that you cannot lay the corners of the banner completely square. This is NOT a defect, as that is how the banner was made, but I thought it was worth noting. Learn More about condition grades
