An Undated (probably 1960s) Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47" x 63" [119 x 160 cm]) (Learn More) Le Rosier de Madame Husson (released in the U.S. as "The Prize"), the 1950 Jean Boyer French comedy (based on the short story by Guy de Maupassant, with a screenplay by Marcel Pagnol; about an older woman in a small town who wants to give a prize to a young woman who has maintained her chastity, but none can be found, so instead the village idiot, a young man, is given the prize, and he uses it to leave the town) starring Bourvil, Jacqueline Pagnol, Mireille Perrey, Pauline Carton, and Henri Vilbert. Note that screenwriter Marcel Pagnol used his influence to get his 25 year younger wife the lead role in this movie, but she was 30, playing a young girl, and that did not work out that well! Note that this movie was a remake of the 1932 French movie of the same French name (but it was released in the U.S. as "He"), and Fernandel played the "idiot".
