Appears in Vintage Hollywood Posters 9 CATALOG SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the auction catalog we published as shown above and was sold long ago and we do NOT have it available for purchase. An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) Son of Dracula, the 1943 Robert Siodmak Universal vampire monster horror thriller sequel ("Red Lips Thirsting!"; "Pale Hands Caressing!"; in this sequel, the Count travels from Budapest to the Deep South of the U.S.!; this is the first Dracula movie that shows him transforming into a bat on screen) starring Louise Allbritton, Robert Paige, Evelyn Ankers, Frank Craven, J. Edward Bromberg, Samuel S. Hinds, Adeline De Walt Reynolds, Pat Moriarty, and Lon Chaney Jr. (in the title role as Count Dracula; he is credited on some posters as "Lon Chaney as Count Dracula", though his actual character name in this film is "Count Alucard", which of course is "Dracula" spelled backwards!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. The poster was folded vertically down the middle. There was no fold across the center of the card, but there were rough creases across the top edge of the image, entering the top of Chaney's hair, and his left hand. There were creases and tears around the edges of the image and there were two areas of paper loss in the middle of the left of the image (mostly in the blue background, but entering the edge of the "S" of "SON" and the "D" of "DRACULA". The poster was expertly paperbacked, but there was not an attempt to make the card look "perfect", and so you can see signs of the restoration from close up. There was new paper laid over much of the blank borders (but not the tiny writing at bottom). This is a common practice with restorers where a card has tattered blank borders, and most collectors do not consider it a major defect, since only blank white paper was affected. Overall, the card was in "good to very good" condition prior to restoration. It displays well, and it definitely does NOT have that "dipped in paint" feel of so many posters sold by those who believe in excessive restoration. I would think most collectors would be quite happy to display this great window card on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
