An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded English/Italian Four-Panel Movie Poster (4p; measures 76" x 108 3/4" [193 x 276 cm]) (Learn More) A Night to Remember (released in Poland as "S.O.S. Titanic"), the classic 1958 (released in the U.S. in 1959) Roy Ward Baker English sinking ship disaster thriller ("Titanic ... in spectacle... realism!"; "Unforgettable! Breathtaking! Brilliant!"; "Told as it really happened"; "A new motion picture never before seen on screen or television"; "Titanic... The greatest sea-drama in living memory"; "The Rank Organisation presents with pride Kenneth More in A Night To Remember"; "From the book by Walter Lord"; about the sinking of the Titanic, the James Cameron "Titanic" borrowed heavily from this movie; Screenplay by Eric Ambler) starring Kenneth More, Ronald Allen, Robert Ayres, Honor Blackman, Anthony Bushell, and James Dyrenforth. Note that the recent discovery that the Titanic broke into three pieces and not two casts severe doubt on the sequence of events of the sinking as portrayed in this movie and several others. It now seems far more likely that the ship sank in a very short period of time, and that the passengers had little chance to perform any of the things they are shown doing in the various movie adaptations of this tragic event! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Alessandro Biffignandi Important Added Info: Note that this is an unusual poster. It was printed in Italy, but not for use in Italy, but rather for use in England (it was surely created for use in England, where the movie was made, because it is entirely in English, and there is no Italian anywhere on it (it even has "MADE IN ITALY" in the bottom white border in English). It has the exact same art that was used on the Italian locandina (but that poster has the title in Italian, and we have also seen an Italian two-panel, but that has different art, and also has the title in Italian). Also, this poster has "THE RANK ORGANIZATION PRESENTS", whereas the two Italian posters have "RANK FILM DISTRIBUTORS OF ITALY", more confirmation that this poster was not intended for Italy, but was intended for England. We have seen many other examples of posters and lobby cards from this period that were printed in Italy, but are clearly the original English or U.S. posters or lobby cards (it seems likely they used Italian printers because they had better and less expensive printers than England or the U.S. at this time. So if this was a standard English size, we would just consider it an "English" poster. But it is the Italian four-panel size, but maybe that is solely because the Italian printers could not print in the English six-sheet size, so they did this size as the closest thing to a six-sheet! If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that this Italian four-panel was printed in 4 sections designed to overlap, and when combined, it measures 76" x 108 3/4" [193 x 276 cm]. Condition: good to very good. There are pieces of yellowed tape around the edges of the poster Learn More about condition grades
