An Original Vintage 7" x 9" UPI Wire Service Photo Still (Learn More) Carol Channing was a stage and screen actress, and also a comedienne from the 1950s to the 1990s. She played the lead in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes on Broadway. Some of her movies include: Thoroughly Modern Millie (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Thumbelina, and Edie & Pen. She passed away in 2019 at the age of 97. Important Added Info: Note that a paper snipe was glued to the back of the still, and then folded over to the front. This was done rather than gluing the snipe to the back, so that the snipe could be unfolded and the still could be displayed with the snipe unfolded, which would let moviegoers read the information on the snipe in the lobby (and of course, the snipe would be folded backwards, so it would not show). This was done with many stills of the 1930s, but often, the snipes are either partially or completely lost, because it is easier for them to be torn off. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE SNIPE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE FRONT OF THE STILL! Also note that the still measures 7" x 9". Note that there is a stamp on the back of the still (from the wire service that distributed it). The snipe tells how Channing does a Marlene Dietrich impression in her act, and that Dietrich saw it and hated it, and that Channing had a big Broadway success in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
