An Original 1949 (from the first release of this movie in Germany) Vintage German Film Program (measures 6" x 8 1/4" [15 x 21 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) The Egg and I, the classic 1947 Chester Erskine romantic city-folks-move-to-the-country hillbilly screwball comedy ("a best seller becomes a best picture!"; "From the Best Selling Book by Betty MacDonald"; "Produced and Written for the Screen by Chester Erskine and Fred F. Finklehoffe") starring Claudette Colbert, Fred MacMurray, Marjorie Main (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; as Ma Kettle), Louise Albritton, Percy Kilbride (as Pa Kettle), Billy House, and Richard Long. Note that the minor characters in this movie, Ma & Pa Kettle, proved to be so popular that they were given their own movie two years after this one, and there was a long running series of hillbilly "Kettles" comedies! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that, immediately after World War II, the U.S. occupied Japan and part of Germany, and many American movies were shown in both countries between 1945 and the end of the occupation. Most of the Japanese posters we have seen from that period and many of the German programs from the same period have a "Motion Picture Export Association" circular printed logo on the poster or program, and apparently this was a program run in conjunction with the U.S. government. Since there were many U.S. servicemen in Japan and Germany at this time, many of these posters and programs have the title written in both Japanese (or German) and in English, and they are from the first release of that movie in that country. Also note that we have provided an image of all the pages of this 4-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and the interior two pages together). This way, you see the entire program, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image. But of course this means that the front cover appears in the top right of our image, but normally, the program would be folded down the center and you would view the cover by itself (and it will be sent folded as was originally intended). Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
