Date Sold 4/20/2014Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 22 1950 Re-Release (re-titled "Bayonet Charge" for this re-release) Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) The Impostor, the 1944 Julien Duvivier World War II (WWII) military mistaken identity murder romantic action thriller (about a convicted murderer about to be executed during World War II, but the prison is bombed, and he escapes, and he makes his way to Africa, where he finds a dead soldier, and he takes the man's uniform, and assumes his identity, and then performs heroic deeds, and he is exposed and put on trial, and his defense attorney argues that his valor in war should cancel out his earlier conviction!) starring Jean Gabin, Richard Whorf, Allyn Joslyn, Ellen Drew, Peter Van Eyck, John Qualen, Eddie Quillan, Ralph Morgan, and Charles McGraw. Note that Jean Gabin went to the U.S. when France was conquered by Nazi Germany, and this is the second Hollywood movie he made (the first was "Moontide"). Also note that, normally, in movies like this, when someone assumes someone else's identity, the person who died was a real creep, and the person assuming the identity does noble deeds, but in this case, the dead soldier was a good heroic person, which is odd! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: SUPER IMPORTANT! THOUGH ONLY EIGHT OF THE STILLS ARE PICTURED, THE HIGH BIDDER ON THIS LOT WILL RECEIVE 22 STILLS FROM THIS MOVIE (but realize that on some of these lots with 9 or more stills there may be a few duplicates, mostly on post-1960 lots)! We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on this lot unless you can accept that you are only seeing eight of the stills. Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
