An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Loves of Edgar Allan Poe, the 1942 Harry Lachman romantic author biography melodrama ("Men scoffed at his greatness... Women knew it with his first kiss!"; very loosely based on the life of the famous author) starring Linda Darnell, Shepperd Strudwick (billed as "John Shepperd"; in the title role as the famous poet, Edgar Allan Poe), Virginia Gilmore, Jane Darwell, Mary Howard, Frank Conroy, Hardie Albright, and Harry Morgan NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and tiny creases and separation on many foldlines. There was a faint tape stain in each corner. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed (the restorer pretty much just backed the poster "as is", with little effort at restoration, but the defects are basically minor and not really distracting at all), and the poster displays well.
