Double Indemnity, the classic 1944 Billy Wilder (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) insurance fraud murder romantic crime film noir ("Paramount's terrific drama of an unholy love and an almost perfect crime!"; "From the Moment they met it was Murder!": "Screenplay by Billy Wilder and Raymond Chandler"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; based on the novel by James M. Cain; about a man who works for an insurance company who meets the wife of a rich man who seduces him into helping her kill her husband, but they have to make it look like an accident so that they can collect double on his life insurance policy!) starring Fred MacMurray (as Walter Neff), Barbara Stanwyck (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; as Phyllis Dietrichson), Edward G. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this window card, and those were both in MUCH lesser condition (one was in "fair" condition, and it sold for $229, and the other was in "poor to fair", and it sold for $365. While this card also has many defects, it is in clearly better condition than either of those!

Note that the window card was folded at one time. Because the foldline is not exactly across the center of the card (and it is somewhat fragile along the fold), we don't want to re-fold the window card prior to mailing, because it would not fit in one of our standard mailers, and we believe that re-folding the window card would lessen its condition (we never roll window cards into a tube). If you specifically request it, we will re-fold this window card, but you will not be able to return it.

Condition: good. The card has darkened somewhat, and it has rough creases across the middle of the image, including in Stanwyck's face. There is paper loss in the bottom corners that very slightly affects the printing, and someone put paper tape on the back of those areas. There is some silver paint in the right edge of part of the right blank border. Other than the tape, no one did any restoration. Obviously, this extremely rare window card should be sent to a top restorer, and after proper restoration, it will display wonderfully, but bear all of the above in mind (and look closely at our super-sized image) before bidding.
