An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Carolina Moon, the 1940 Frank McDonald singing cowboy western musical starring Gene Autry, Smiley Burnette, June Storey, Mary Lee, Jimmie Lewis and His Texas Cowboys, Hardie Albright, Etta McDaniel, Paul White, and the Hall Johnson Choir. Note that this movie was slightly different than other B-westerns of the era, in that in this one, Autry and Frog help elderly plantation owners, and there are several musical numbers performed by the black African American Hall Johnson Choir. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: I am very far from any sort of expert on 1940s westerns, but I don't recall seeing many black faces in those movies. This movie, Carolina Moon, has a scene of Gene Autry and Smiley Burnette attending a meeting of black people, where they are listening to a black woman (likely Etta McDaniel) speaking to the audience. Did many westerns of the early 1940s include many black people? I welcome e-mails from those who are knowledgeable on this subject. Condition: fine. Learn More about condition grades
