Note that Nikkatsu (the studio releasing this film) thought it was so terrible that they didn't want to release it, but a court battle ensured and director Seijun Suzuki won the right to have the film released. He also lost his contract and didn't direct another film for 10 years. This film is also among the films that had a major influence on Quentin Tarantino's film making style.
