6p0271 NOT SO DUMB pressbook 1930 Marion Davies, George S. Kaufman, King Vidor, ultra rare!

An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 17" x 21 1/2" [43 x 55 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More)

Not So Dumb, the 1930 King Vidor romantic comedy (based on the play 'Dulcy' by Marc Connelly and George S. Kaufman; about the wife of a businessman who hosts a dinner with his main clients, hoping to help his career, and over the course of the evening, she says and does many "wrong" things, but everything works out in the end!) starring Marion Davies, Elliott Nugent, Raymond Hackett, Franklin Pangborn, Julia Faye, William Holden (no, not THAT William Holden, but another actor of the same name who made 20 movies between 1920 and 1931, and he died the next year, which was 7 years before the more famous William Holden made his first movie!), and Donald Ogden Stewart. Note that this play had been previously adapted into a movie in 1923 starring Constance Talmadge, and was later remade again with Ann Sothern in 1940, and both those versions were under the original play title of "Dulcy".
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned an Australian daybill, two lobby cards, a few jumbo lobby cards, and some stills from this movie (and NO U.S. posters or other movie paper of any kind) until we received this pressbook!

Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Condition: fair, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut but is in much lesser condition. It was folded once in each direction. Please do not bid on this unless you can accept its significant defects.
