An Original Vintage Theatrical 10 1/4" x 13" [26 x 33 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The Glass Key, the 1935 Frank Tuttle crime mystery thriller ("His ears hear more 'inside' facts than a city editor! ...His lips hold more secrets than a Grand Jury Indictment!"; "By the author of 'The Thin Man' Dashiell Hammett"; this version of the movie has been mostly forgotten because it was overshadowed by the second version featuring Veronica Lake and Alan Ladd) starring George Raft, Edward Arnold, Claire Dodd, Ray Milland, Rosalind Keith (billed as "Rosalind Culli"), Charles Richman, Robert Gleckler, Guinn 'Big Boy' Williams, and Ann Sheridan (in a bit part as a nurse!). Note that Rosalind Keith made her first movie a year before this, and had a minor role. In that movie and this one, she was billed under her real name of Rosalind Culli. She later changed it to Rosalind Keith and became a Columbia actress, and after making 20 movies, she retired in 1939, for reasons we don't know! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that, as noted above, Rosalind Keith is billed as Rosalind Culli on the back of this still. It is interesting that she is wearing an ornament around her neck, which is a key made of glass, no doubt because of this movie! Note that this still measures 10 1/4" x 13" [26 x 33 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Note that this is one of 100 deluxe oversized stills (measuring 11" x 14" or similar) which were consigned to us, and they all originated from the legendary James Card Collection! James Card was a film preservationist who, starting in 1948, worked at the newly created George Eastman House in Rochester, New York, and he helped build their massive motion picture collection, preserving movies that had been forgotten at that time. In 1955, he discovered that Louise Brooks was living as a recluse in New York City, and he persuaded her to move to Rochester, where she wrote many letters and some books about her legendary career. Not only do these 100 oversized stills (which we are auctioning individually) have wonderful "provenance", but there is also no fear that they are not from their first release (and many of the stills have photographer stamps on the back or embossed, and some have other information on the back, and several have a stamp that identifies them as being from the "James Card Collection"!
