4 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More)

Two Gun Man From Harlem, the 1938 Richard C. Kahn New York City black African American mistaken identity cowboy western ("The Harlem Bad Man goes west!"; about a black cowboy who is the foreman of a ranch and is falsely accused of killing his boss, and he goes to Harlem in New York City, and meets a preacher-turned-killer, called "The Deacon", there who looks just like him, and he returns to the ranch posing as the preacher, and sets things right) starring Herb Jeffries (billed as "Herbert Jeffrey"), Marguerite Whitten, Clarence Brooks, Mantan Moreland, Spencer Williams, Clarence Brooks, Tom Southern, Matthew 'Stymie' Beard, "with an All Negro Cast". Note that Herb Jeffries was a black African American actor who starred in four well-remembered all-black cast cowboy movies in the 1930s, but then largely retired from movies.

Important Added Info: Note that first release 1938 movie paper items from this early black African American movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a single one-sheet from this movie, and one 8x10 still, until we received this completely different group of four stills (and the one-sheet was 32 years ago)! Note that this is one of 10 sets of stills from "all black movies" from the 1930s and 1940s that we were recently consigned, and are currently auctioning in 10 separate auctions. Movie paper of any kind from the first releases of these movies is extremely rare, because these movies only played at the movie theaters that had only black patrons. First release one-sheets are very rare, but so are first release lobby cards and stills. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase one or many of these sets, some of which may not be seen again for many years!

Condition: good to very good. The stills have some light creases and scuffs, and a few edge defects (see our images). They are otherwise in generally nice condition.
