An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 13 3/4" x 20 3/4") (Learn More) Les Quatre Cents Coups (released in the U.S. as "Francois Truffaut's The Four Hundred Blows"), the classic 1959 Francois Truffaut French New Wave semi-autobiographical troubled teen family relationship coming-of-age melodrama ("Angel Faces hell-bent for violence"; based on Truffaut's troubled childhood in France; Leaud played him as a young boy in this movie and went on to portray him in four other Truffaut movies!) starring Jean-Pierre Leaud, Claire Maurier, Albert Remy, Guy Decomble, Georges Flamant, and Patrick Auffay (as Rene) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. Our consignor took this poster to a framer who dry-mounted it to a mat and then double-matted it, using some sort of glue to hold the top mats to the bottom mat (but that glue does not touch the poster). The framer did not spray the poster with anything! The poster could be professionally removed from the mat that it is glued to, but that might be pretty expensive (and of course, one could simply put the matted poster into a frame as is). Prior to being dry-mounted to the mat, the poster had three horizontal folds, with a couple of brown stains in the right of the fold that runs through the center of Leaud's jacket (in the background area). The poster had a tax stamp in the bottom right corner and an unusual top border (it looks like there was something attached to the back of the top 1" of the poster). The person who dry-mounted the poster to the mat did not do any restoration to the above defects. Before bidding on this poster, please be certain to read the above carefully and to look at our super-sized image, so that you know that you can either accept the poster as it is or are willing to pay to have it removed from the matting.
