The Amateur Gentleman, the 1926 Sidney Olcott silent boxing horse racing sports gambling romantic melodrama ("Adapted from the story by Jeffrey Farnol"; about the son of a boxer who is framed and sent to prison; when the son inherits a fortune, he uses it to investigate his father's case and proves him innocent, and the movie contains a dramatic horse racing steeplechase sequence) starring Richard Barthelmess, Dorothy Dunbar, Gardner James, Nigel Barrie, and Brandon Hurst. Note that this movie was remade in 1930 with Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. in the lead role.

Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned it before and we have ONLY auctioned a few stills and two lobby cards for this movie in all our years of auctioning!

Condition: fair to good. The poster has stains and smudges scattered throughout. It has tears in the lower part of the poster with one running from the lower part of the top hat down in the background below it and another entirely in the background to the right of the background of Barthelmess' leg. There is a horizontal y-shaped tear near the bottom of his leg. There are some tiny areas of paper loss scattered across the bottom of the image with paper loss in the left of the bottom border entering the "S" of "Sydney". There are some creases and stains scattered below the above tears. Obviously this extremely rare poster can be restored but bear all of the above in mind before bidding on it.
