An Original Vintage Cloth Banner (measures 34" x 35" [86 x 89 cm]) (Learn More) 36th Infantry Division (also known as the Panther Division, the Lone Star Division, The Texas Army, Texas Division and the T-Patchers) has been a division of the United States Army since World War I (WWI). It was originally known as the 15th Division but was renamed the 36th in July of 1917. The unit was sent to Europe in July 1918 and was deactivated in 1919. The division was called up again in 1940 for World War II (WWII). One of the units of this division has a sad claim to fame. The Second Battalion, 131st Field Artillery was detached and sent to the Pacific just before Pearl Harbor. They were captured by the Japanese and forced into slave labor, and their fate was unknown throughout the war, resulting in them being called "The Lost Battalion". In more recent years, the division has been active in search and rescue efforts following natural disasters. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this cloth banner! Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
