Anthony Hordern & Sons was a major department store in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The business started in 1823 and in 1901 they had the largest department store in the world, named The Palace Emporium. Sadly, the business was defunct in 1973, and the historic Palace Emporium building was controversially demolished in 1986.

Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Australian poster! Also, Anthony Hordern was well-known for their Christmas events, and thousands would show up to watch as Santa arrived in a horse-drawn carriage to greet children at "Santaland"

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some creases around the edges, with tiny tears in the right of the top blank border. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
