An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Mismates, the 1926 Charles Brabin silent poor-girl-marries-rich-guy-and-his-family-does-everything-to-get-rid-of-her-including-framing-her-and-sending-her-to-jail romantic marriage melodrama ("--tears and a pretty face will not save you!"; "adapted from the story by Myron C. Fagan") starring Doris Kenyon, Warner Baxter, May Allison, Philo McCullough, and Charles Murray. Note that Warner Baxter was born in 1889, and in the early 1920s he rose to prominence in silent movies, becoming a major star of the 1920s, while he was in his 30s. He won the Oscar for Best Actor as The Cisco Kid in "In Old Arizona" in 1929, and he remained a top star throughout the 1930s! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned one in all our years of auctioning and the last time was in 2010 and we have only auctioned a lobby card and some still for the movie but no other posters! Note also that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 insert posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 insert posters (note that most post-1970 inserts were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those inserts). Condition: good to very good. The poster has a few tears of varying lengths around the edges and most are backed by conservation tape (see our image). There are scuff marks in the upper half of the poster and someone performed amateur restoration to a few of them.
