Note that Charlie Chaplin liberally "borrowed" from the plot of this movie for his classic "City Lights". When the producers of "A Nous La Liberte" attempted to sue Chaplin, director Rene Clair testified that ALL filmmakers owed a huge debt to Charlie Chaplin, and that NO filmmakers should ever consider suing Chaplin, and of course, that ended that lawsuit!
