Important Added Info: Note that this auction is for the "star child" style wilding poster (there is also a "psychedelic eye" wilding poster, which is auctioned far more than this poster). They were both created in March 1970 by Mike Kaplan for the re-launch of this movie (see below for an explanation of what this means). This poster was found in an estate, and it was unfolded, but it had many defects, as noted below. We have only previously auctioned four examples of this "star child wilding" style. We have created a webpage that gives the full history of this re-launch and these two posters (as related to us by Mike Kaplan himself!), and you can read that history HERE What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was never folded. It had a large number of small creases scattered throughout, more so in the upper left and lower right. It had a series of small stains scattered down the right center of the image. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. A very talented restorer expertly backed the poster and performed restoration to the above substantial defects. When you look at the poster tilted to the light, you can clearly see much of the restoration. However, when you look at it straight on, especially from a reasonable viewing distance, it displays pretty well, and I think it will display well on the new owner's wall once it is framed. However, please read the above carefully before bidding. Obviously, one would prefer a better condition example of this poster, but it is incredibly rare, probably not only one of the most rare 2001 posters, but also one of the most rare 1970s posters period!
