An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Melody, the 1953 Ward Kimball & Charles A. Nichols Walt Disney 3-D (3D; 3-Dimension) family animated cartoon musical short ("First of the 'Adventures in Music series'"; "The screens first animated cartoon in 3-Dimension"). Note that this was the first cartoon ever filmed in 3D! There were two one-sheets created for this film. Both had the same image but used a different tagline for the 2D and 3D versions. This cartoon was the first in the planned "Adventures in Music" series and was followed by "Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom" which won the 1954 Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Cartoons). However, perhaps because "Melody" came near the end of the 3D craze or because the shorts were animated using a "limited animation" technique that some fans and critics disliked, no other shorts were made for the series. The studios created both 3D and 2D posters and lobby cards (the 2-D posters and lobby cards were for theaters that lacked the 3-D equipment). This poster is from the "2-D" release. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the bottom crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other two crossfolds. It had creases and scuffs along the bottom quarter of the vertical fold and in the right half of the bottom horizontal fold, with very minor wear on the other folds and in the borders.
