Appears in Vintage Hollywood Posters 9 CATALOG SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the auction catalog we published as shown above and was sold long ago and we do NOT have it available for purchase. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Empty Saddles, the 1936 Lesley Selander cowboy western ("From a Novel by Cherry Wilson") starring Buck Jones, Louise Brooks (the legendary beauty in one of her final roles), Harvey Clark, Gertrude Astor, Chas Middleton, Frank Campeau, Niles Welch, Lloyd Ingraham, Ben Corbett, and Robert Adair. Note that pre-talkie star Louise Brooks turned her back on Hollywood in 1929, and went to Europe and made some memorable films. In the early 1930s she attempted to return to Hollywood (minus her trademark flapper hairdo), but met with little success. She is prominently billed in this movie, but is not pictured on the posters. Also note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good to fine. The poster had tiny paper loss at each crossfold. There were some small tears in the vertical foldline. There was some small wear on the horizontal foldlines. There were pinholes, creases, small tears, and some small paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, and looks great! Learn More about condition grades
